Yufuin Ryokan Without a Car: Seven Stays Compared by the Last Mile
Compare seven Yufuin ryokan by station pickup, luggage access and walks to town or Lake Kinrinko, including inns where a taxi is the practical option.

A confirmed pickup, a steep approach or a long walk with a suitcase matters more than the straight-line distance. Use this comparison to plan the arrival first, then decide where you want to spend the evening.

Choose by luggage, not just walking distance
Hana no Mai is the most realistic walk-in option if you pack light. With a large suitcase, its day-before pickup arrangement may be easier. Tanokura, Ubl and Hoteiya have transfer information, but none should be treated as an on-demand taxi: ask about the exact date, time, meeting point and booking cutoff.
If your hotel is outside the centre, solve the station-to-inn leg before you board. Baien and Gettouan are short taxi rides, but Gettouan currently has no shuttle. Ashitaba’s reservation notice is old enough that it needs fresh confirmation. Don’t assume a platform listing overrides the property’s current instructions.
Keep the town walk for when your hands are free
Tanokura’s position by Lake Kinrinko makes an early walk simple. Ubl is also near the lake, while Hana no Mai connects to the shopping street on foot. Hoteiya is a little farther from the station but still works for a walk around the lake after check-in. Baien’s garden and baths make more sense if you plan to stay on site rather than repeatedly return to town.
For bags, the Yufuin Chikki luggage service delivers only to participating inns. Its current service hours are limited, so check that your specific accommodation is on the partner list and that your arrival fits the day’s schedule. Yufuin Station is also using a temporary station building during renovation; the former art hall and platform footbath are closed through winter 2026.
