Kaze-no-Mori or Gettouan? Two Yufuin Inns with an Open-Air Bath in Every Room
Both inns have an open-air spring bath in every detached room; Kaze-no-Mori adds indoor tubs and pickup, while Gettouan’s shuttle is suspended.
Checked: September 27, 2026 If you have already decided that your Yufuin room needs an outdoor hot-spring bath, the next question is what else should come with it. Kaze-no-Mori pairs an indoor and open-air bath in each of its ten detached rooms. Gettouan has 18 detached rooms with an open-air bath in every one, plus separate public baths. The transport arrangements now make the difference especially clear for visitors arriving by train.

Kaze-no-Mori is easier to plan around without a car
The inn’s room page describes all ten cottages as having both an indoor bath and an open-air bath. That second tub is useful in cold or wet weather, when an outdoor bath might be less appealing; you do not have to give up a private soak to stay under cover. Room size and layout vary, so use the selected category rather than assuming that every photo shows the room you will receive.
From May 11, 2026, the hotel changed its free station pickup to a fully advance-reservation system. Its current notice lists five arrival runs from Yufuin Station—3, 3:30, 4, 4:30 and 5 p.m.—and asks guests to reserve by 3 p.m. the day before; seats are limited. The station is around a 20-minute walk away if you do not arrange the ride. If you are arriving with luggage, book the pickup ahead rather than treating it as an on-demand service.
Gettouan gives you room baths plus a separate public-bath circuit
Gettouan’s 18 detached rooms each have an open-air bath. Guests also have access to separate men’s and women’s public baths with indoor and outdoor tubs; the property lists those as open from noon until 9 a.m. the following day. Guests in the special annex rooms have access to an additional private-use outdoor bath, available from 2 p.m. to 11 a.m. the next day. That extra facility is tied to the annex category, not every room.
The trade-off for a train arrival is current and worth checking close to your stay: Gettouan’s access page states that its station pickup service is suspended. The station-to-inn trip is about eight minutes by taxi. The official site also notes that the pickup service is normally subject to reservation and conditions, but the suspension notice overrides that general description for now.
Choose Kaze-no-Mori if an in-room indoor tub matters almost as much as the outdoor one, or if you want to lock in a scheduled station ride. Gettouan makes more sense if you plan to use both the room bath and the public baths, and are comfortable arranging a taxi.
