Hotel Sengoku Day Bath: Check Which Side Has the Bath You Want
Hotel Sengoku’s Isawa day bath costs ¥1,100 and runs 3–8 p.m. Ask which gender side has the source-fed rock bath or sauna on your visit.
First decide whether the open-air bath or sauna is essential
Hotel Sengoku does not put all its features in one bathing area. The inn describes one side as a rustic rock bath with an attached open-air bath and source-fed water. The other is a larger indoor public bath with a sauna. The two sides switch between men and women on a time-based rotation, but the current public pages do not give a day-use changeover timetable.
That changes how to plan a short visit. If you would be disappointed to miss the outdoor pool or the sauna, call before travelling and ask which side is assigned to men and women during the 3–8 p.m. period, and whether a changeover will happen while day visitors are admitted. Simply asking whether the hotel has a sauna or outdoor bath will not answer the question that affects your visit.
Current day-use listing and an older closure notice
The Isawa Onsen Ryokan Association currently lists day bathing from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at ¥1,100 for adults and ¥500 for children. Its listing also names a hair dryer, towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It does not clarify whether towels are complimentary or rented, so bring your own or ask when calling.
There is an old conflicting record: Fuefuki’s tourism guide, published several years ago, marked Hotel Sengoku’s day bathing as suspended. The newer association listing presents it as open with current hours and rates. Use that current listing as the working schedule, but confirm directly before making a special trip; hotel day-use access can change with guest bookings or maintenance.

What is confirmed about the water
Hotel Sengoku describes the rock bath with its open-air pool as a source-fed, free-flowing bath. Its wider facility page gives the spring type as alkaline simple hot spring and describes the separate large bath as having a sauna. The inn also says the bathing areas rotate by time.
The public descriptions do not provide a current bath-by-bath table for dilution, heating, filtration or disinfection, and do not state the rotation times. Keep the kakenagashi claim attached to the rock-bath side; the available information does not support extending it to every tub in the hotel.
Getting there from Isawa-Onsen Station
Hotel Sengoku is at 545 Kawanakajima, Isawa-cho, Fuefuki. The Isawa tourism association gives an approximately 15-minute walk from Isawa-Onsen Station and notes that pickup is available. The hotel’s shuttle information is framed around hotel guests, so day visitors should ask whether they can use it rather than build the trip around an assumed pickup. The association lists free parking; drivers can also use the hotel’s access page to check the route from the Ichinomiya-Misaka interchange.
The older tourism guide’s suspension label conflicts with the newer association entry, which gives current hours, prices and amenities. The association listing is the better working reference, not a guarantee against a same-day closure; a short call is sensible if Sengoku is the main reason for travelling. Public information confirms the rock-bath side is source-fed, but gives no current pH, source temperature or flow rate. Earlier third-party figures should not be treated as current measurements.
