Yokikan Day-Use Onsen: Yuya Bay Views, Hours and Family Baths
Plan a day bath at Hotel Yokikan in Nagato: Yuya Bay outdoor baths, weekend hours, current admission and bookable 60-minute family baths.
Checked: September 28, 2026
Hotel Yokikan is a full-service hotel in Yuya, Nagato, but non-guests can use its public baths during the day. Both gender-separated bathing areas have an outdoor pool looking over Yuya Bay, plus an indoor bath and sauna. The facilities differ slightly: Genso-no-yu has an electric bath, while Yokihi-no-yu has a bath using natural mineral stones.
Day-use hours and admission
| Day | Bathing hours | Last admission |
|---|---|---|
| Weekdays | 11 am–9 pm | 8 pm |
| Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays | 11 am–3:30 pm, then 6–9 pm | 2:30 pm for the first session; 8 pm for the second |
The weekend gap from 3:30 to 6 pm is closed to day visitors. Crowding may also affect admission, according to the hotel, so avoid building a tight onward connection around the final entry time.
| Item | Price / terms |
|---|---|
| Adult admission | ¥1,300, including ¥150 bathing tax |
| Child aged 3+ | ¥600 |
| Child under 3 | ¥100 |
| Small towel rental | ¥100 |
| Bath towel rental | ¥200 |
Bring your own toiletries. Restaurant Amanoyu diners may receive a day-bather admission discount; the hotel does not publish the amount.
A bay view from either public bath
Genso-no-yu and Yokihi-no-yu both have an outdoor bath facing Yuya Bay and an indoor sauna. The electric bath in Genso and mineral-stone bath in Yokihi are the main difference in their listed equipment. Guests staying overnight can experience both sides because the hotel switches the baths between men and women at midnight. A day visitor will normally use the side assigned to their gender on arrival rather than both baths.
The hot spring is classified as an alkaline simple spring, and the hotel lists a pH of 9.8. The current onsen page does not provide a source temperature or a fixed bathing-pool temperature. It also does not publish treatment details for each individual pool. If flow-through water is a deciding factor, ask the hotel directly instead of inferring it from the spring classification.
A pH reading says nothing about temperature, so 9.8 should not be turned into a source or bath temperature. The hotel describes the spring as clear, colourless and odourless, but does not publish a source flow rate or a pool-by-pool account of dilution, heating, recirculation or disinfection. Those details are not established simply by calling it a natural hot spring.
Family baths are a separate booking
The hotel lists three private family baths in the Asanagi building. Day-use sessions last 60 minutes, reservations are required, and last reception is at 8 p.m. Confirm availability and the full total with the hotel, especially for groups larger than two.
Do not budget using the old ¥2,000 private-room charge alone. The hotel’s current page lists these rates:
| Party or option | Published price |
|---|---|
| One guest | ¥4,450 |
| Up to two guests | ¥4,600 |
| Each additional adult | ¥1,300 |
| Child aged three or older | ¥600 |
| Child under three | ¥100 |
Sessions run between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Additional guests are charged separately by age.
The three rooms are Ichi-no-yu, Ni-no-yu and San-no-yu. The remodeled area also includes the Sarasa post-bath lounge. The mineral-stone family bath is separate from the public pool and has its own booking rules. For two adults who do not need privacy, public admission totals ¥2,600, much less than the private-room base price.
Plan around the road, not a quick station transfer
Yokikan is at 10130 Igami, Yuya, Nagato. The hotel lists a shuttle from Igami Station by reservation, but its access information does not clearly say that this service is available to day bathers. Ask when booking the bath whether a day-use pickup is possible. Driving is the simpler option for linking it with the coastal sights; the hotel lists about 100 free parking spaces, and gives Tsunoshima as less than 30 minutes away in smooth traffic.
The hotel closed its Sarasa bedrock bath on May 6, 2024. Sarasa now refers to the post-bath lounge. Driving estimates are about 1 hour 20 minutes from Shimonoseki IC, one hour from Ozuki or Mine IC and under 30 minutes from Tsunoshima in smooth traffic. The hotel has about 100 free parking spaces and paid EV charging. Use the recommended roads; some navigation shortcuts are narrow mountain routes.
Yokikan is best treated as a coastal road-trip stop: pair the bath with Motonosumi Shrine, Senjojiki, Tsunoshima or the Yuya Bay shoreline. It is not a quick walk-in from Nagato City. For a broader comparison, Kawatana Seiryusen costs less, while Tawarayama’s Machi-no-Yu and Hakuen-no-Yu put more emphasis on traditional bathing. Ichinomata Grand Hotel has a different mountain-bath and sauna setup. The Nagato Yumoto Onto guide covers a much more compact, transit-dependent visit.
The hotel’s tattoo policy is unconfirmed. Contact it before visiting if the rule affects your plans.
