Tokyo’s Newer Urban Onsen: Kakeinoyu, Toyosu Manyo Club or Haneda?
Compare Kakeinoyu for a short visit, Toyosu for dinner and a long rest, or Haneda’s Izumi Tenku no Yu near Terminal 3. Prices and tattoo rules differ.
These three newer facilities all bring natural hot-spring bathing into a modern Tokyo day out, but they solve different planning problems. Kakeinoyu is the most manageable for a couple of hours; Toyosu Manyo Club makes more sense when you want dinner and a long rest in the same building; Izumi Tenku no Yu is easiest when your trip already passes through Haneda Terminal 3.
Three different ways to spend the time
| Facility | Adult entry | Best fit | Main catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kakeinoyu at HANA BIYORI | ¥2,300 weekdays; ¥2,800 weekends and holidays. Online tickets are ¥2,000 and ¥2,500 | An evening soak, garden visit and sauna without giving up a whole day | Preschool children and guests with tattoos or body art are not admitted |
| Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club | ¥3,850 plus ¥150 bathing tax | A longer stay around Toyosu, with meals, rest areas and a rooftop footbath | Bathing closes for cleaning 3–5 a.m.; a separate late-night fee applies after 3 a.m. |
| Izumi Tenku no Yu Haneda Airport | ¥4,800, including towels, indoor wear and bedrock bath | A layover, early flight or Terminal 3 connection | Staying in the building from 1–5 a.m. adds ¥4,000 for adults |
Kakeinoyu: the easiest one to fit into an evening
Kakeinoyu sits inside HANA BIYORI in Inagi, west of central Tokyo. Admission includes garden entry, towels and indoor wear. The night ticket is for entry after 8 p.m. on eligible weekdays; weekends, holidays and some busy periods are excluded.
| Kakeinoyu ticket | Online | At the door |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday entry | ¥2,000 | ¥2,300 |
| Weekend / holiday entry | ¥2,500 | ¥2,800 |
| Eligible weekday night entry (after 8 p.m.) | ¥1,500 | Not listed |
The garden and open-air bathing make the visit feel more like an outing than a quick neighbourhood sento. A paid bedrock-bath area can be used by men and women together, while the public baths are separate. The facility is beside the Keio Yomiuri-Land area, with a free shuttle from Keio-Yomiuri-Land Station. Kakeinoyu admission also includes HANA BIYORI garden entry during the garden’s opening hours.
Its entry conditions are strict: infants and preschoolers are not admitted, and tattoos, body art, paint and tattoo stickers are prohibited. If either rule is a concern, choose another facility rather than relying on an exception.
Toyosu Manyo Club: pay for a longer stop, not just a bath
Toyosu Manyo Club is part of Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai, next to Shijo-mae Station. The basic fee includes the bath, yukata, towels and use of the facility. The large bath closes for cleaning from 3–5 a.m.; the changing area closes from 3:30–5 a.m. A separate late-night charge applies after 3 a.m.
| Toyosu Manyo Club | Adult rate |
|---|---|
| Regular admission | ¥3,850 |
| Bathing tax | ¥150 |
The hot spring water is transported daily from Hakone and Yugawara; Toyosu is not drawing its own local source. Shared areas such as the rooftop footbath, restaurants and lounges give couples or friends a way to spend time together between separate bathing sessions.
Guests with tattoos may enter only if they can cover them with up to two facility-issued seals, each no larger than 11 by 20 centimetres. The seals must stay on throughout the visit, not just inside the baths.
Haneda: expensive unless the airport is already part of the plan
Izumi Tenku no Yu connects directly to Haneda Airport Terminal 3 through Haneda Airport Garden. Admission includes face and bath towels, indoor wear, bedrock bathing and the bathing tax. The building is open around the clock; the baths close for cleaning from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
| Izumi Tenku no Yu Haneda | Adult rate |
|---|---|
| Admission | ¥4,800 |
| Late-night surcharge (stay between 1–5 a.m.) | ¥4,000 |
For a traveller already at Terminal 3, skipping a cross-city transfer can be worth more than the difference in entry price. If Haneda is not on your route, however, Kakeinoyu or a neighbourhood sento is usually easier to justify. Wheeled suitcases cannot be taken into the spa; leave them at the designated airport storage or lockers before entering. The facility’s public rules do not clearly settle tattoo access, so ask the operator directly before travelling if that applies to you.
