Komaeyu: A Design-Forward Tokyo Sento with a Café-Bar Next Door
Komaeyu is three minutes from Komae Station; entry is ¥600 with ¥680 sauna access, and its SIDE STAND café-bar is open to non-bathers.
Komaeyu makes a nice evening plan when only one person in a group wants to bathe. The sento sits three minutes from Komae Station, and SIDE STAND next to the entrance serves drinks and snacks without requiring an admission ticket. The bath itself is a carefully redesigned neighbourhood facility, not a natural hot spring or a large day spa.
A compact bath with a clear hot-cold route
Inside, there is a hotter bath of about 42°C, a jet bath, a micro-bubble bath, a plain bath and a high-concentration carbonated bath. The carbonated bath is an artificial functional bath, not evidence of a natural carbonated spring. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hair dryers are provided without charge.
The sauna uses automatic water pouring over the stones to maintain heat and humidity. Seating is Japanese cypress, and a mineral-stone wall radiates heat.
The cold bath uses cooled Komae groundwater and is set around 14°C. It is 90 cm deep on the men’s side and 60 cm on the women’s side. The rest area is indoors, with spot coolers directed at individual seats.
Komae’s local groundwater gives the cold bath a regional character, but natural water is not the same thing as a legally classified hot spring. The facility does not publish an onsen analysis certificate or spring profile.
Admission, sauna and the café-bar
Tokyo’s public-bath admission rate changed on 1 August 2026. Komaeyu’s page still shows the former ¥550 rate, so use the current Tokyo rate below.
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Adult bath | ¥600 | Current Tokyo public-bath rate |
| Sauna | ¥680 | Includes a rental sauna towel |
| Bath and sauna | ¥1,280 | Combined total |
| Large towel rental | ¥150 | |
| Small towel rental | ¥50 |
Check the posted price at the bathhouse before paying.
Komaeyu is open 1–11 p.m. and closed Tuesdays. SIDE STAND runs 1–10:30 p.m.; its drinks and snack menu changes, so there is no need to plan around one permanent list of beers. Guests can visit SIDE STAND on its own, making it an easy meeting point for someone who would rather skip the bath.
From Komae Station, the walk is about three minutes. There is no car park, though bicycle and motorcycle parking is available. The short station walk makes this an easy addition if you are already on the Odakyu Line or spending time in western Tokyo; it is less compelling as a cross-city trip just for an ordinary wash.
Guests with tattoos are allowed. Children under junior-high age need to be accompanied by a guardian. Komaeyu suits travellers who like contemporary architecture, a modern sauna and the option to stay for a drink. If natural hot spring water is the main requirement, choose another facility; if you want to compare COCOFURO’s music-led sauna style, see the Takano-yu and Kagayokujo comparison.
