Tenjin no Yu in Takatsuki: A 6 a.m. Onsen Between Osaka and Kyoto

Plan a visit to Tenjin no Yu near JR Takatsuki and Hankyu Takatsuki-shi: current admission, its 6 a.m. opening, spring details, bath types and day-use rooms.

Tenjin no Yu is a city bath about three minutes’ walk from both JR Takatsuki and Hankyu Takatsuki-shi stations. Adult admission is ¥1,500, and regular opening time is 6 a.m. Some dates are reserved for maintenance; check the calendar before an early visit.

The onsen is part of Work Hotel Annex. Its main draw is variety: the facility lists 20 bath and bathing options across the men’s and women’s areas, including outdoor baths, a source-water bath, a carbonated bath, an artificial bath and a mist sauna. That number describes the whole bathing experience, not 20 separate natural springs.

Admission and what to bring

ItemCurrent price
Adult admission (junior high school age and older)¥1,500
Child admission (age 4 through elementary school)¥700
Children aged 3 and underFree
Bath towel rental¥300
Face and bath towel set¥400
In-house clothing rental¥200
Adult bathing and ganbanyoku set¥2,000

Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided in the bathing area. Bring a towel or budget for the ¥400 face-and-bath towel set; an adult arriving without towels therefore pays ¥1,900 for admission and the set. The ganbanyoku package is ¥500 more than basic adult admission. Confirm at reception whether towel rentals are included before deciding what to add.

What the 20-bath count means

The spring is classified as a simple hot spring, with a source temperature of 32.4°C. That is the temperature at the source, not a published temperature for the bathing pools. The site describes outdoor and source-water bathing alongside features such as a carbonated bath, an artificial bath, a ceramic tub, electric baths and a mist sauna. These are different kinds of bathing; the carbonated and artificial baths should not be described as natural hot-spring water simply because they are inside an onsen facility.

Bath names and layouts are divided between two sides, and which one is assigned to men or women changes by month. Check the current bath page if a particular tub or sauna is the reason for your visit. The facility lists a mist sauna, but the availability of an individual feature can change during repairs.

Hours, station access and parking

Regular hours are 6 a.m.–11 p.m., with last admission at 10 p.m. The operator lists one or two closure days in some months. Check the closure calendar for your date, especially before planning an early train connection.

From JR Takatsuki, follow the south-exit route towards the station-front post office. Hankyu Takatsuki-shi is similarly close. The location works well for a short stop on the Osaka–Kyoto rail corridor, but it is less practical by car: the facility has no dedicated or partner parking, so drivers need to use a nearby paid lot.

For other early or late baths, see the Osaka morning and late-night guide. The Osaka day-onsen guide covers longer visits. Nearby, Gokurakuyu Ibaraki sells separate indoor-only and full-area tickets; Tenjin no Yu has one basic admission.

A private room is a separate day-use plan

Work Hotel Annex also advertises 3- and 5-hour day-use room plans. Its listed prices range from ¥8,000 to ¥14,000, depending on room category and duration. The page says that loungewear and a towel set are placed in the room when available, but supplies are limited. Confirm the plan’s occupancy, what the quoted price covers and whether the room’s bath uses the natural spring before booking; the day-use listing does not make those details clear for every plan.

For overnight guests, the hotel says access to Tenjin no Yu is included during the stay. The room plans and the public-bath admission are separate products, so do not assume that booking a day-use room automatically includes the same onsen access as an overnight stay.

Entry rules to know before you go

Bath entry is refused to guests with tattoos. Children may accompany a parent or guardian into the opposite-sex bathing area only through age six. Shampoo and body wash are supplied; the changing area has free, lockable lockers, and handrails are installed in the large bath. Wheelchairs are available to borrow in limited numbers, so contact the facility first if one is needed.
