Morning and Late-Night Onsen in Kawagoe: Check the Bath Hours and the Ride Home
Compare Kawagoe’s early-opening Hatsukari with daytime KASHIBA and Chiisana Tabi, including a closing-time discrepancy and the ride home.
Kawagoe has one bathhouse that opens at 8 a.m. and accepts bathers until 12:30 a.m. That is Koedo Hatsukari Onsen. KASHIBA opens at 10 a.m. and Chiisana Tabi opens at 10 a.m. on weekdays or 9 a.m. on weekends and holidays. If your window is unusually early or late, the first question is whether the bath is open; the second is whether you can get there and back.

Hours and special admission windows
| Facility | Bath hours | Adult rates | Useful early/late detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Koedo Hatsukari Onsen | 8 a.m.–1 a.m.; last reception 12:30 a.m. | Standard: ¥900 weekdays, ¥1,000 weekends/holidays. Morning or night: ¥800 / ¥900. | Morning rate: 8–9 a.m.; night rate: 10 p.m.–12:30 a.m. A bath-plus-bedrock-bath night ticket costs ¥1,050 weekdays or ¥1,150 weekends/holidays. |
| Chiisana Tabi Kawagoe Onsen | Newer local listings give midnight; the operator footer says 1 a.m. | ¥850 weekdays; ¥950 weekends/holidays. | Treat midnight as the safer closing time and confirm before a late arrival; published pages do not explain the discrepancy. |
| Koedo Onsen KASHIBA | 10 a.m.–midnight; last admission 11 p.m. | Bath: ¥900 weekdays, ¥1,000 weekends/holidays. Bedrock package: ¥1,000 / ¥1,300. | The bedrock area closes at 11 p.m., so late entry leaves little time to use it. |
At Hatsukari, the ¥1,050 / ¥1,150 night package is ¥250 above bath-only entry; choose it only if you plan to use the bedrock-bath area. KASHIBA is easier to pair with a meal during the day.
A late closing is not a late bus
Hatsukari’s public-transport route begins at Kamifukuoka Station or Minami-Furuya Station. From either, the operator directs visitors to take a Seibu Bus to Jon-etsu Saitama Koko Iriguchi-mae and walk about 15 minutes. That route is not a safe assumption for a post-midnight departure; check the last bus before choosing the night-bath discount.
KASHIBA’s free shuttle runs between the facility and Kawagoe/Hon-Kawagoe stations, but it is not a late-night service you can infer from the bathhouse hours. It cannot be reserved and may be full. Chiisana Tabi uses regular Seibu Bus routes toward Kasumino, so check the current timetable and have a return plan. The car-free Kawagoe access guide covers shuttle limits and alternatives.
Which one fits your available hour?
Before 9 a.m., Hatsukari is the only one of the three open. On weekend mornings from 9 to 10, Chiisana Tabi joins the options. After 10 a.m., all three are available, so choose by the visit itself: KASHIBA for a longer break, Chiisana Tabi for a spring-focused soak, or Hatsukari if its location and late hours suit your route.
After 11 p.m., KASHIBA has stopped admitting bathers. Hatsukari remains open, while Chiisana Tabi’s stated closing time is inconsistent across current sources. For an overview of the facilities rather than their opening windows, see the Kawagoe day-use onsen guide.
At 11:10 p.m. or later, Hatsukari is the only one of the three with a clearly published admission window. First confirm that you can get there and still make your way home. Its 12:30 a.m. last reception and 1 a.m. closing are bathhouse times, not a promise of a late bus.
The night discount saves ¥100 against standard admission. A taxi after the last bus can easily cost more than that saving. Tattoo rules do not change by time of day: all three currently refuse tattooed guests.
