Both baths have natural spring water, saunas and outdoor pools, and both stay open late. They suit different parts of Osaka. Naniwa no Yu is about a ten-minute walk north from Tenjinbashisuji 6-chome Station, with a city bus from Osaka Station stopping nearby. Hinata no Yu sits on the ninth floor of a building in Shin-Osaka’s office district, about a ten-minute walk from the station; its front desk will hold large luggage that does not fit in a locker.

Pick by your base, not the ¥20 difference

Naniwa no Yu fits a stay near Umeda, Tenma or Tenjinbashisuji. Its larger outdoor area and parking discounts matter most if you are driving. Hinata is the practical stop on a Shin-Osaka travel day: it is on the ninth floor, has outdoor baths and can hold luggage too large for a locker.

Their springs and tattoo policies are not identical

Naniwa no Yu’s current spring page lists a sodium-chloride-bicarbonate spring drawn from about 659 metres underground. The newer spring information gives a source temperature of 33.7°C, while the general facility guide still lists 35.3°C. Treat these as conflicting source figures, not pool temperatures; neither means every bath is filled at that temperature.

The operator says the source bath receives spring water without dilution before heating. Other pools are heated and circulated for temperature and hygiene; chlorine is used, and dilution may occur depending on operating conditions.

Hinata no Yu draws from about 800 metres underground and describes the water as a weakly alkaline simple spring, pH 7.8. It lists bath settings including a 39–40°C carbonated pool and a 17.5–18°C cold bath. The entrance rules differ too: Naniwa no Yu refuses guests with tattoos, including temporary tattoos. Hinata allows entry only when every visible tattoo can be fully covered with its designated cover stickers.

For a final-day stop or an early bath near the bullet train, Hinata is usually the more convenient call. From a Kita Ward hotel, Naniwa is easier to work into a normal evening. Neither is a private bath or a station-platform stop; allow time for the walk and changing.

See the individual Naniwa no Yu guide and Hinata no Yu Shin-Osaka guide for current facility notes. For a different kind of long visit, compare Nobeha no Yu Tsuruhashi or the Osaka day-onsen guide; spring terms are explained in the onsen water-quality guide.

Naniwa’s eighth-floor outdoor circuit has more pool variety; Hinata’s ninth-floor baths open to views of the sky, planes and city lights. A weekday visit with both Naniwa towels purchased totals ¥1,550. Hinata’s adult ticket with its towel set rental totals ¥1,130, so the cheaper entry price is not the only cost difference.
