Five Public Bathhouses in Osaka’s Fukushima Ward
Compare five current sento in Osaka’s Fukushima Ward by hours, nearest station, sauna and bath features. Yasaka stays open latest, until 1 a.m.
Fukushima Ward’s June 2026 list names five operating public bathhouses: Sakaeyu, Tatsumi Onsen, Hinode Onsen, Hoeiyu and Yasaka Onsen. All are neighborhood sento, not confirmed natural hot springs. Basic adult admission is ¥600; sauna, towels and other extras may cost more.
| Bathhouse | Hours / weekly closing | Nearest area | Why choose it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sakaeyu | 14:00–00:00; Monday | JR Noda, 3-minute walk | Steam sauna, cold bath and outdoor bath; closest to JR Noda |
| Tatsumi Onsen | Tue–Fri 19:00–23:30; Sat–Sun 14:45–23:30; Monday | Ebie / Noda-Hanshin, about 6 minutes | Osaka Castle mosaic wall, dry sauna and carbonated bath; weekday opening is late |
| Hinode Onsen | 16:00–23:00; Monday and Wednesday | Ebie / Noda-Hanshin, about 5 minutes | Radon steam and a weekend hinoki bath and steam feature |
| Hoeiyu | 15:40–22:00; Tuesday | Hanshin Noda, about 5 minutes | A rare “human dryer” in the changing area, plus sauna, steam and outdoor bath |
| Yasaka Onsen | 14:00–01:00; 2nd and 4th Thursday | Noda-Hanshin / Ebie, about 7 minutes | Latest closing time, dry and wet saunas, outdoor bath and several tubs |
Hours and weekly closures are from the bathhouse association’s current listings, except the ward page is the source for the five-bath count. Check the individual notice before travelling; a closing time does not always equal last admission.
After dinner: Yasaka stays open latest
Yasaka Onsen is the clearest option if you will not reach a bath until late: it is listed until 01:00. Sakaeyu closes at midnight, Tatsumi at 23:30, Hinode at 23:00 and Hoeiyu at 22:00. If you are already at JR Noda before 23:00, Sakaeyu’s three-minute walk may be more useful than choosing a later-closing bath farther away.
Match the bath to the feature you want
Tatsumi’s Osaka Castle mosaic is the most distinctive visual feature in the group. Its weekday opening at 19:00 is the catch; on Saturdays and Sundays it opens at 14:45. The association lists a dry sauna and carbonated bath.
For a lower-temperature steam option, Hinode lists a radon steam room. On weekends it also runs a hinoki bath and hinoki steam using domestic cypress chips. These are bathing and sauna features, not proof of a natural radon spring.
Hoeiyu is the one to look for if old changing-room equipment interests you. Osaka City calls out its “human dryer,” a device in the changing area. It also has sauna, steam and an outdoor bath, but the 22:00 closing time makes it a poor late-night choice.
Sakaeyu is closest to JR Noda and has steam, cold and outdoor baths. Yasaka offers the broadest late-evening setup, with dry and wet saunas and multiple baths.
Don’t read “Onsen” as a spring-water guarantee
None of these five should be presented as a confirmed natural-spring facility on the information cited here. Tatsumi’s carbonated bath is not the same as a natural carbon-dioxide spring; Hinode’s radon steam is not evidence of a natural radon spring. A bathhouse name or softened water alone cannot establish a spring source. If natural spring water is essential, see the Osaka day-use hot spring comparison, which covers facilities with published spring information.
Choose by station, then by closing time
For JR Noda or Tamagawa, start with Sakaeyu. Around Noda-Hanshin and Ebie, compare the other four by schedule and the feature you actually want. If you are arriving after 23:00, Yasaka is the only one in this group listed to stay open until 01:00. Allow time to walk, wash and change; don’t plan around the final minute of the posted hours.
If you are staying by Osaka Station or JR Fukushima, remember that these five baths are farther west, around Noda, Ebie and Noda-Hanshin. Sakaeyu is the simplest option if JR Noda is already on your route; there is little benefit in crossing town for an extra feature when your evening is short. Around Noda-Hanshin, choose between the four nearby options by the actual opening time and the bath or sauna you want.
All five are listed as ordinary public bathhouses, at the current Osaka base rate of ¥600 for adults, ¥200 for elementary-school children and ¥100 for younger children. Sauna, towels and drinks can change the final spend. The current sources do not establish a natural spring at any of the five: a carbonated bath, radon steam, softened water or “Onsen” in a shop name is not enough to make that claim.
The ward’s June 29, 2026 list is the basis for the five-bath count. Older directories may include names that are no longer on the current list, so avoid adding a sixth bath based only on a historic listing. Tattoo policies are not covered consistently across all five association pages; if that matters, contact the bath you plan to visit. Likewise, check the individual last-admission rule—posted closing time alone does not guarantee you can still enter.
