Hotel Miki is in Maze, not in the Gero Onsen town center. The drive between them takes about 30 minutes. Without a car, the nearest rail stop is Hida-Hagiwara Station; overnight guests can request a complimentary pickup when making the reservation. This is a countryside stay, so plan transport before you arrive rather than expecting to stroll out to Gero's shops and riverside streets.
Staying overnight adds late and early bathing time
Day visitors can use the bath complex from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with last admission at 9 p.m.
Overnight guests have access until 11 p.m., then again from 6 to 9 a.m.
That late-evening and morning access is the main bathing advantage of booking a room. If you only want a daytime soak, a day visit may be enough.
The hotel advertises 17 bath facilities, but that does not mean 17 hot-spring pools. The complex mixes baths with sauna and other bathing features, and some tubs do not use spring water. The on-site Maze River source is listed at 32.2°C, so the water is heated before use; the hotel also describes circulation, filtration and chlorine disinfection. It is an alkaline simple spring.
