Yufuin Tabinokura: A Room-Only Stay With Two Private-Use Hot Springs

Tabinokura is for travelers who would rather arrange their own meals than pay for a full ryokan dinner. The trade is straightforward: each room has its own bathroom and shower, while the natural hot spring is in two shared baths that guests use privately. A small kitchen and lounge make the room-only setup more practical for families and groups.
The hot spring is private-use, not inside the room
The inn lists two indoor baths supplied with 100% source-fed hot spring water. They are available from 5–10 p.m. and 6–8 a.m., with a limit of one hour per group. These are shared facilities that you book for private use, not two baths reserved for each room. The guest rooms have a private bathroom and shower, but the inn does not describe those as hot-spring baths.
That distinction matters if you want to soak late at night or as soon as you wake up. The baths are closed overnight and after 8 a.m., so Tabinokura is not a 24-hour room-onsen stay. Check the current instructions for how bath access is managed on your dates.
A kitchen helps, but it is not an all-night restaurant substitute
The property has eight rooms, including twin and family-room categories. All rooms list a bathroom, toilet, shower and free Wi-Fi. Its free kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, toaster and dishwasher; guests may bring their own food, and kitchen use ends at 8 p.m.
That closing time changes how you should plan dinner. Pick up groceries before checking in, or treat the kitchen as a place to store and reheat food rather than a late-night cooking space. The inn is room-only, so do not assume breakfast or dinner is included in the room rate.
The location works best with light luggage or a taxi at night
Lake Kinrinko is about a ten-minute walk away, and the station is roughly fifteen minutes on foot or five minutes by taxi. The inn recommends taking a taxi after dark because the road is poorly lit. There are six free parking spaces. Yufuin IC is about ten minutes away by car.
