Agaryanse in Otsu: Two Springs and a Lakeside Day Out

Plan a half-day at Spa Resort Ogoto Agaryanse in Otsu, Shiga, with current admission, two natural springs, lakeside baths, bedrock sauna and shuttle limits.

Spa Resort Ogoto Agaryanse is in Naegawa, Otsu, near Ogoto Onsen. It is an easy candidate from Kyoto or the west side of Lake Biwa if you want to spend half a day indoors and outdoors without booking a ryokan. The facility draws from two natural springs, named Bijin no Yu and Daiko no Fukkatsu. Its spring page does not map every individual tub to a source, so do not assume that every functional bath uses natural spring water.

Budget for the whole visit

From June 20, 2026, adult admission is ¥1,650 on weekdays and ¥2,050 on weekends and holidays. Indoor clothing, a bath towel and a face towel are included.

Bedrock-sauna use is included too. Its dedicated clothing and large towel are a separate ¥300, bringing a weekday bath-and-bedrock visit to ¥1,950 before food or other services.

There is enough here to fill a few hours: large outdoor baths facing the lake, pot baths, reclining and massage baths, a carbonated bath, sauna and cold bath. The bedrock-sauna area has several rooms, including a lake-view room. Lounge seating and massage chairs make it possible to alternate bathing with a proper rest. A one-hour stop will leave much of what you paid for unused.

Check the last shuttle before settling in

The free shuttle mainly serves JR Ogoto Onsen Station, with some trips to Hieizan Sakamoto. The published return schedule lists the last Agaryanse-to-Ogoto Onsen Station departure at 10:30 p.m. The facility stays open until midnight and takes last entry at 11 p.m.; those hours do not mean the shuttle runs until closing. If you miss it, plan for a taxi or another return option rather than assuming a late bus will appear.

The facility does not admit guests with tattoos, body art, paint or tattoo stickers. Bedrock-sauna access is limited to junior-high age and older, and children under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian. Outside food and drink are not allowed. Check the operator's current notices before setting out, especially around holidays.

For a smaller bath close to Kyoto, compare the Shiga day-use onsen guide or Ogoto day-trip comparison.
