Happu no Yu in Eigenji: Prices, Baths and Shuttle Access
Check day-use prices and ticket details at Happu no Yu in Eigenji, plus the infrequent Omihachiman shuttle and its 2026 maintenance closure.
Happu no Yu is a day-use hot-spring complex in Eigenji, Higashiomi, with the Aichi River valley as its setting. Its adult ticket costs ¥1,300 on weekdays and ¥1,700 on weekends and holidays. The price includes a bath towel, face towel, indoor clothing and the stone sauna, and re-entry is allowed during the same visit. It is a generous package if you plan to stay for a few hours; for a quick bath, the ticket may include more than you need.
What the admission covers
The facility is open daily from 10:30 to 22:00, with last entry at 21:00. Adults are classed as junior-high age and older. Children pay ¥700 on weekdays or ¥800 on weekends and holidays; children under three pay ¥200. The posted prices include consumption and bathing taxes.
The bathing area combines indoor pools with an outdoor bath overlooking the Aichi River landscape. Other facilities include a reclining bath, individual tub baths, a sitting bath, a cold bath, a dry sauna, a salt sauna and a daily herbal bath. The two indoor bath layouts and the outdoor sides swap between men and women every Friday, so photos of a particular side may not match the day you visit.
The spring is classified as a simple, mildly alkaline spring, with a published pH of 8.38. The operator describes a faint yellow colour and mild scent. It does not publish a current source temperature on the spring page, so a source-water figure should not be inferred from how warm a particular bath feels.
A ticket that makes more sense over several hours
The admission price is easier to justify if you will use the facilities beyond one soak. You can bathe, change into the included indoor clothing, rest, use the stone sauna and return to the baths without buying a second entry. The complex also has a lounge and dining area. If you only want a 45-minute bath, the included extras do not automatically make the higher ticket the best-value choice.
Guests with tattoos, including tattoo stickers, cannot enter. Children need a guardian; mixed bathing is not allowed from age eight, and phones and photography are prohibited in the bathing and changing areas.
The free shuttle needs a timetable-first plan
Driving is the simplest approach. Happu no Yu is about 12 minutes from Yokaichi Interchange. A free, direct shuttle also connects the facility with JR Omihachiman Station, but it runs only three times in each direction on the published schedule:
| From Omihachiman Station | Arrive at Happu no Yu | Return from the bath | Arrive at the station |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11:00 | 11:45 | 13:00 | 13:45 |
| 14:00 | 14:45 | 15:00 | 15:45 |
| 16:00 | 16:45 | No later return listed | — |
The 11:00 shuttle is the practical arrival for a visit. A 13:00 return leaves about 75 minutes at the facility, while the 15:00 return gives you a little over three hours.
The 14:00 shuttle reaches the bath only 15 minutes before its listed return, and no later return is shown for the 16:00 service. Use either only if you have another way back. The shuttle does not run on the facility’s closure days, and its times are estimates, according to the operator.
The complex is closed for maintenance on December 2 and 3, 2026, and is scheduled to reopen at 10:30 on December 4. Check for additional maintenance notices before a later visit.
Is it worth the detour?
Happu no Yu is a good match for a slow afternoon in eastern Shiga, especially if you are already touring Eigenji or the Koto Three Temples. Its ticket bundles enough bathing and resting time to turn it into the destination for several hours. Travellers who mainly want a quick soak, a natural source-water specification, or a spontaneous station-to-bath trip have better reasons to choose elsewhere.
For another mountain-side bath with a more basic day ticket, compare Kutsuki Onsen Tenkuu. Kitaoumi no Yu in Nagahama is a different option for early bathing and a longer sauna or lounge stop.
