Sakunami Day-Use Onsen: Which Bath Is Open and What It Costs

Compare day-use bathing at Premium Sendai Sakunami, Yunohara Hotel and Green Green, including current hours, prices, closures and the last leg from Sendai.

Sakunami’s three main day-use baths suit different plans. Premium Sendai Sakunami accepts walk-ins in both the early morning and late afternoon, but its famous riverside rock bath has been closed since August 14, 2026, with no reopening date announced. Yunohara Hotel is a short, one-hour visit on days it is open. La Raku Resort Hotel Green Green gives you a 90-minute bath and the broadest mix of facilities, though its published closing time differs between two pages.

Here is the practical comparison for a visit from Sendai. Prices and operating details were checked on September 28, 2026; same-day changes are possible, so confirm before setting off.

FacilityAdult admissionDay-use windowWhat affects the choice
Premium Sendai Sakunami¥900 weekdays; ¥1,200 weekends and public holidays; ¥1,400 busy dates7–10 a.m. and 3 p.m.–midnight; last admission 10 p.m.Walk-ins are accepted, but the riverside rock bath is temporarily closed.
Yunohara Hotel¥1,000 weekdays; ¥1,500 weekends and public holidays11 a.m.–4 p.m.; last reception 3 p.m.Usually closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays; about one hour in the bath, with no day-use rest area.
La Raku Resort Hotel Green Green¥1,100 plus ¥70 bathing tax for guests aged 15 and over10 a.m.–10:20 p.m. on the day-use page; 90-minute visit, reception until 9:30 p.m.Its spa page lists closing at 10 p.m. instead. Check if you plan to stay late.

Premium Sendai Sakunami: the rock bath is closed for now

Walk-ins are accepted during the two windows shown above. The admission details are easier to compare separately:

Visitor / extraPrice
Adult, weekday¥900
Adult, weekend / holiday¥1,200
Adult, busy date¥1,400
Child¥600 or ¥700, depending on date
Child under 3Free
Towel rental¥330

There is one major change to the usual Sakunami recommendation. After heavy rain, the hotel suspended its riverside open-air bath, the Iwa-buro, from August 14, 2026, until further notice. Other outdoor baths and indoor baths remain open. The suspension notice does not give a reopening date, so a visit now should be planned around the baths that are still operating—not around the famous river bath.

When open, the Iwa-buro is reached by descending about 88 wooden steps. That route is a real consideration for anyone with sore knees, limited mobility or a small child to carry; the closure currently makes the stairs irrelevant to day-use bathing, but check the latest notice before a future visit. The facility’s published tattoo rule is specific: tattoos are not allowed in the communal bath unless the hotel’s paid cover stickers completely conceal them. The hotel does not publish a size limit for the stickers, so larger tattoos need a direct check.

Yunohara Hotel: a short soak, with a weekday closure to plan around

Yunohara’s day-use bath covers the fourth-floor view bath and its open-air bath. Visitors are asked to keep the visit to about an hour, and there is no day-use lounge or rest room. The published window is 11 a.m.–4 p.m., with reception ending at 3 p.m.; on some dates, reception begins after noon while the water is changed.

Visitor / extraWeekdayWeekend / holiday
Adult¥1,000¥1,500
Child, any age listed¥500¥750
Face towel¥100¥100
Bath-towel rental¥400¥400

Bring your own towel to avoid the rental charges.

Yunohara is normally closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with additional irregular closures. Day-use guests do not receive the hotel’s station shuttle, even though the property advertises a pickup for overnight guests. The hotel’s private open-air baths are also described separately from ordinary day-use access; do not assume they can be added to a day ticket without asking.

Green Green: the longest stay, but check the closing time

Use 9:30 p.m. as the arrival cutoff. Call if the conflicting final 20 minutes matter to your return connection.

The public bath includes indoor and outdoor pools and a low-temperature maifan-stone sauna. The women’s bathing area also lists a sky bath, a cave bath and a jacuzzi. Green Green has two private baths, bookable at the front desk on the day: ¥1,650 per room for 45 minutes. Its spa page describes the baths, but does not clearly say whether a standard day-use visitor can add one. If sharing a private bath is essential, confirm eligibility and availability before travelling.

The hotel’s 2026 indoor-pool season ended on September 3, so the pool is not part of a late-September day visit. It has announced that ordinary day-use bathing returned on June 24, 2026; seasonal or maintenance notices can still change the schedule.

Getting to the bath you picked

Without a car, Sakunami is possible, but the train station is not the entrance to every hotel. JR’s Senzan Line reaches Sakunami Station from Sendai; depending on the property, the remaining leg is a local bus, a confirmed shuttle or a taxi. Green Green’s access page specifies a roughly five-minute city-bus ride from Sakunami Station to the Sakunami Onsen Iriguchi stop, then a one-minute walk. Yunohara explicitly does not provide station pickup to day-use bathers.

Premium Sendai Sakunami also has a city-bus stop close to the property. Its hotel shuttle is a separate, advance-booked service for overnight guests, so day visitors should not count on it. Check the return bus or train before bathing: missing the connection can leave a long wait in an area where the three facilities are spread along the valley. The Akiu vs Sakunami comparison covers the broader transport trade-off, while how to reach Akiu from Sendai is useful if you decide that Akiu’s direct-bus options fit your day better.

Which one fits your day?

Choose Premium Sendai Sakunami if you want a walk-in bath and can work around its morning or afternoon opening. The river-side rock bath is currently out of service, so it is not a reason to travel there until the operator announces that it has reopened. The cover-sticker exception is the only tattoo policy clearly stated among these three facilities; the other two operators’ day-use pages do not spell out their tattoo rules, so ask them directly.

Yunohara suits a short visit on a confirmed open day, especially if its view bath is the main draw. Its Tuesday/Wednesday closures, one-hour guideline and lack of a day-use shuttle make timing less flexible. Green Green has the widest range of public-bath facilities in this comparison, but its standard ticket is limited to 90 minutes; settle the late closing-time discrepancy and private-bath access before building the day around it.

If the choice is between a specific bath and an easy transit connection, pick the bath first and then match it to that day’s return timetable. For an area-level view of Tohoku hot-spring trips, continue to the Tohoku onsen guide.
