Weekend Morning Sento in Ikuno: Three Osaka Baths, Three Opening Times
Compare three Ikuno sento: New Kiyotaki opens at 6 a.m. on weekends, Hyakuso-yu at 7, and Yagara at 8 on Sundays only.
| Bath | Saturday morning | Sunday morning | Regular closure | What stands out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New Kiyotaki Onsen | 06:00 | 06:00 | Tuesday | Open until 01:00; dry sauna, medicinal bath and outdoor bath |
| Hyakuso-yu | 07:00 | 07:00 | Irregular | A short morning soak near Tsuruhashi and Momodani |
| Yagara Onsen | 14:00 | 08:00 | Usually 2nd and 4th Wednesdays | Three minutes from Kita-Tatsumi; free sauna and outdoor bath |
Adult admission at all three is best budgeted at Osaka’s standard sento rate of ¥600. Sauna charges and towel arrangements aren’t consistently listed for each bath, so don’t assume every extra is included.
The earliest opening is not always the easiest choice
New Kiyotaki is the simple answer if you want to bathe before 07:00 or need a Saturday morning option. On weekends it is open 06:00–01:00 and closes on Tuesdays. It is about 15 minutes on foot from Momodani Station and has four parking spaces. On weekdays it opens at 14:00, so the weekend schedule is the exception.
Hyakuso-yu starts at 07:00 and closes at 20:00. It sits between Tsuruhashi and Momodani stations, each about a 15-minute walk, and has an irregular closing schedule. This works well for someone already staying nearby who wants a bath before breakfast or a morning walk. Check the day’s opening before making it the anchor of a cross-town trip.
Yagara Onsen’s morning opening is Sunday-only: 08:00–23:30. From Monday to Saturday it opens at 14:00. Kita-Tatsumi Station is a three-minute walk away. There is a free sauna, cold bath, carbonated bath and outdoor bath; the reclining and jet baths are about 38°C, a bathing temperature rather than a source temperature.
For a Sunday morning, the choice is really between Yagara’s shorter station walk and New Kiyotaki’s earlier opening. Hyakuso-yu is the middle option if you are staying around Tsuruhashi or Momodani and do not need a sauna. All three use Osaka’s standard adult sento fare of ¥600; the association’s child rates are ¥200 for elementary-school children and ¥100 for preschoolers. Towels and other extras can vary by facility.
Yagara’s September closure dates are unusual
Yagara normally closes on the second and fourth Wednesdays. Its adjusted September 2026 closure dates were September 16 and 30. Those dates have passed; check the latest notice for the next visit rather than relying on the usual weekday pattern.
The association’s notice listed September 16 and 30 instead of the usual second- and fourth-Wednesday pattern. Both dates have passed. Check its current calendar for later months, as adjusted closures may change.
None of these three baths currently publishes a natural-spring analysis that would support calling its water a certified natural onsen. New Kiyotaki and Yagara have “onsen” in their names; that alone is not a spring certificate. Choose among them for the opening time, location and bathing facilities.
If you’re in Tsuruhashi, Hyakuso may save more time than crossing Ikuno for a 06:00 opening. If you have an early train or bus, New Kiyotaki gives you the longest weekend window. Yagara is the Sunday pick when you’d rather arrive later and use the sauna and outdoor bath.
New Kiyotaki’s 6am start applies on Saturday and Sunday, not weekdays; its weekday opening is 2pm. Hyakuso-yu opens at 7am but shuts at 8pm and takes irregular days off. Yagara opens at 8am on Sundays only, usually closing on the second and fourth Wednesday. These differences are easy to miss when an older travel post shortens each schedule to “morning bath.”
The three are not all equally convenient without a car. Yagara is about three minutes from Kita-Tatsumi Station. New Kiyotaki and Hyakuso-yu are each roughly a 15-minute walk from their nearest listed station area. If you need the earliest possible bath, take the extra walk into account; with a late breakfast and no fixed departure, Yagara may be the easier Sunday plan.
The source listings do not establish a natural-spring analysis for any of the three. Yagara’s carbonated bath is a facility feature, and its 38°C note refers to a reclining or jet tub. Tattoos are not covered consistently in the available listings, so ask the individual bathhouse if that matters to you.
