Sento in Hirano, Osaka: Eight Open Baths and One Listed as Closed

Osaka's 2026 list names nine Hirano sento, but Kiritsubo Onsen is marked closed. Compare open baths by hours, sauna and station access.

Hirano has one of Osaka’s deeper clusters of neighborhood sento. The useful distinction is not which bath has the most features, but what part of the ward you will be in and when you want to bathe. One place opens at 6am, several work well after a local meal, and a couple are easier by car than on foot from a station.

Osaka City’s 2026 bath-discount list names nine facilities in the ward. The Osaka public bath association currently labels Kiritsubo Onsen as closed, so do not count on it for a visit unless the operator announces a reopening.

The standard adult admission at Osaka association-member sento is ¥600. Sauna charges, towel rental and payment methods vary by bathhouse.

Start early or stay for the sauna

COCOFURO Oomineyu is the clearest pick for an early bath: it opens at 6am and runs music-backed Löyly at :00 and :30, with quieter sessions at :15 and :45. Sauna admission is an extra ¥300. Shampoo and body wash are provided, and there is a small lounge for a break afterward. See the full Oomineyu guide for its sauna timing and access details.

Suehiro Onsen takes a different approach. The operator lists its main bath above 45°C and describes the cold bath as using underground water. That is not evidence of a legally documented natural hot spring. The sauna add-on is listed at ¥100 on the current facility information. It closes Fridays, and the 19-space car park is useful if you are travelling with family or already driving around the ward.

For a late visit, Ebisu-yu is the central option listed until midnight; Ōgonyu is better treated as a 10pm sauna stop, even though the building stays open until 10:30. Tachibana-yu opens at 1pm and is close to JR Hirano, while Asahi Onsen is more appealing if you have a car and want a soft-water bath, sauna and outdoor tub together. These are neighborhood facilities, so check the individual listing before setting out rather than assuming the directory’s usual schedule overrides a temporary closure.

A gentler soak or a local stop

Shōchiku Onsen’s carbonated bath is made by equipment that adds carbon dioxide; it is not a naturally carbonated spring. The bathhouse also has an outdoor medicinal bath that changes by week, a dry sauna and complimentary washing products. Its six parking spaces and roughly eight-minute walk from Deto make it a reasonable family stop.

Asahi Onsen combines soft water, an outdoor bath and a dry sauna, with 11 free parking spaces. Komagawa and Kire-Uriwari stations are not especially close, so it suits drivers or visitors who are already in the area. Ebisu-yu is a more central evening option: its association listing gives hours until midnight, with a dry sauna and medicinal bath.

Uriwari Onsen is closer to Kire-Uriwari Station than Ōgonyu. The latter has a longer walk but a simpler draw—hot and warm tubs and a dry sauna. Its listed last reception and sauna use end at 10pm, ahead of the stated 10:30pm closing, so do not arrive at closing time expecting a full visit. Tachibana-yu is nearer JR Hirano; its steam sauna and garden give it a different feel from the larger, sauna-forward baths.

If you are driving, the directory lists 19 spaces at Suehiro, 11 at Asahi, six at Shōchiku, and smaller lots at several others. Those spaces make a difference in a ward where some baths are a 10–15 minute walk from the nearest station. Do not treat a listed parking count as a reservation, especially on weekend evenings.

Don’t use “onsen” in the name as proof of spring water

The available facility pages describe soft water, underground water and artificial carbonated baths, but do not provide the spring analyses needed to identify these nine as confirmed natural hot springs. If natural spring water is your main reason for going, use our Osaka day-use onsen guide to compare facilities that publish spring information.

Kiritsubo’s older Sunday-morning hours and sauna details should be treated as historical while the association continues to mark it closed. Tattoo policies are not consistently stated across the ward. Check directly with the bath you plan to visit if that affects your decision.

For dates in September 2026, the association’s newer listing for Yagara gives September 16 and 30 as adjusted closing days, replacing the usual second- and fourth-Wednesday pattern. Those dates matter if you are choosing a Sunday-morning alternative around Kita-Tatsumi; use the facility’s posted notice rather than calculating from its regular schedule. Yagara’s roughly 38°C figure refers to a reclining or jet bath, not spring-source temperature. Its carbonated bath is a feature bath, not proof of a naturally carbonated spring.

The ward’s choices also split naturally by neighborhood. Around Momodani, Momodani Onsen stays open until 1am and has a dry sauna and outdoor bath; Gokuraku Onsen closes at 11pm but lists both dry and steam saunas. Near Teradacho, Shusse-yu is the later-closing option, while Minami-Ikuno Onsen has dry and steam saunas but closes at 11:30pm and is shut Wednesdays. On the Tatsumi side, Ebisu-yu, Fukutoku Onsen and Kaga Onsen offer more varied equipment; their hours and closing days differ, so compare the facility row above with the route you actually plan to take.

None of the nine bathhouses is established as a natural hot spring by the sources used here. “Soft water,” an artificial carbonated bath, underground water, or the word onsen in a name describes something different from a published spring analysis. If confirmed spring water is essential, start with the Osaka day-use onsen guide instead.
