Hikari Nozato no Yu: A Natural Onsen at Sento Prices in Nishiyodogawa

This Nishiyodogawa sento draws alkaline spring water from about 800 metres underground. Entry is ¥550; check its Tuesday and third-Wednesday closures.

Hikari Nozato no Yu is an appealing option if you are staying near Tsukamoto, Mitejima or the west side of Osaka Station. The bathhouse association identifies an alkaline simple spring drawn from about 800 metres underground, alongside dry and steam saunas, a carbonated bath and an outdoor rock bath. Adult entry is listed at ¥550 in Osaka City’s January 2026 ward guide, with a ¥100 surcharge for the high-temperature sauna.

The listed hours are 2pm to midnight; the high-temperature sauna closes at 11:30pm. JR Tsukamoto and JR Tozai Line Mitejima stations are each about an eight-minute walk away, and the ward guide lists 11 parking spaces. It is a practical evening stop near the station, though its closing days need a closer look before you set out.

What the spring label confirms—and what it leaves open

The association describes a natural alkaline simple spring from about 800 metres underground. A sign shown on its listing reads “natural onsen, free-flowing,” so there is evidence that some spring water is supplied without continuous recirculation. The published text does not identify which bath uses that water, or say whether it is heated, diluted or circulated in each pool. It would be a stretch to call every bath free-flowing.

The facility list also includes a carbonated bath, a rock bath, dry and steam saunas, a cold bath, an electric bath and jet baths. “Carbonated bath” describes the bathing feature; it does not prove that the source is a naturally carbonated spring. Older spring-analysis figures are not a substitute for current, facility-specific details.

Current prices and sauna charge

Osaka City’s Nishiyodogawa guide lists the following rates for 2026:

AdmissionPrice
Adult¥550
Junior-high student¥450
Elementary-school child¥200
Younger child¥100
High-temperature saunaadd ¥100

The adult figure is specific to this bathhouse in the ward guide, while the association’s general adult rate is ¥600. For a soak without the high-temperature sauna, budget ¥550; add ¥100 if you plan to use it. The available price list does not give a complete towel or amenity bundle, so bring what you need or ask at the counter.

Hours, closures and the sauna cutoff

The ward’s January 2026 guide gives hours of 2pm–midnight, with Tuesday and the third Wednesday of each month as closing days. The public bath association’s directory lists Tuesday only. Because the two current listings disagree, call before visiting on a third Wednesday: 06-6474-1018. Do not assume the bath will be open just because the association page omits that extra monthly closure.

The high-temperature sauna closes at 11:30pm, half an hour before the bathhouse. Arriving around 10:30 may leave enough time for a short soak, but it is late for a full sauna-and-cold-bath circuit. If the sauna is why you are going, arrive earlier. After 10pm, keep the plan simple and check how much time remains before the sauna closes.

Getting there from Tsukamoto or Mitejima

Both JR Tsukamoto and JR Tozai Line Mitejima are about eight minutes away on foot. Tsukamoto is convenient if you are coming from Osaka Station; Mitejima works well for the Nishiyodogawa side. The ward guide lists 11 parking spaces, useful for drivers but not a guarantee that a space will be available at busy times.

If you are staying around Osaka Port or Tempozan, the low admission price alone may not justify crossing the city. Compare Terume Ryugu and Hikari Nozato no Yu against that day’s route. For more baths in the area, see the Nishiyodogawa sento guide.

How long to allow

With about an hour, wash, enjoy the spring-water bath and rock bath, and leave time to dry off and dress. With 90–120 minutes, you can add one sauna and the cold bath; there is no need to try every facility in one visit. If you arrive after 10:30pm, the high-temperature sauna is close to its cutoff. A short soak is the more realistic plan.

The association listing mentions an infant bed and accessibility features, but does not explain the route through the changing area or whether every bathing pool is step-free. Call ahead if a companion needs specific mobility support. Tattoo rules are not clearly set out in the sources cited here, so ask the bathhouse directly rather than relying on an aggregator’s general label.

Our editorial ratings favor value, facility variety and station access. The cleanliness and setting scores are more restrained than those for the baths and transport.
