Ofuroya Wako: An Early-Morning Sento Near Tennoji and Shin-Imamiya
Ofuroya Wako opens at 6 a.m. near Dobutsuen-mae and Shin-Imamiya. Sauna use is included; bring or rent a large bath towel, and note Wednesday closure.
Ofuroya Wako fills a handy gap in a Tennoji-area day: it is open before most sento have unlocked their doors. The facility lists Dobutsuen-mae Station as a four-minute walk, Tennoji and Tennoji-Ekimae at about six minutes, and Shin-Imamiya at eight. It is in Nishinari Ward, close enough to work into a New World or Tennoji itinerary without turning the bath into a separate excursion.

A proper sento visit, with a few useful extras
Wako describes its outdoor garden bath as an artificially carbonated bath, and lists remote-infrared and mist saunas among its facilities. It also has a cold bath, electric bath, shallow and jet baths. These are useful features at the standard public-bath price, but the facility does not publish a natural spring analysis. The carbonated bath should not be described as a natural carbonated hot spring.
The operator’s own policy is unusually clear for visitors with tattoos: tattooed guests are welcome. There are four free parking spaces, and a coin laundry on site, so the bath can also fit around laundry or a run. Those spaces are limited; don’t count on one being free at a busy time.
The full walk list also gives Tennoji Station at about six minutes and Abeno Station at eleven. That makes Wako workable from several nearby bases, but Dobutsuen-mae is the closest listed stop. Drivers have four free spaces; there is no reason to count on those being available during a busy period.
What a towel-less visit costs

If you bring a large bath towel, entry and sauna come to ¥600. If you arrive empty-handed and want both a large and small towel, allow about ¥720 before toiletries. The price list also offers ten adult visits for ¥5,800. Sauna access is free, but the large-towel rule still applies for hygiene.
Check the outdoor bath if that is your main reason to go
Wako’s official pages promote the garden-style outdoor bath and salt bath. Dated user reports noted maintenance-related interruptions earlier in 2026, while a later summer feature described using them again. That history suggests the facilities have been available, but it is not a live status notice. If you are making a special trip specifically for the outdoor bath, call the shop first at 06-6641-6675.
Wako is a better fit for a quick wash, sauna or early start than for a long spa day: the listed services are those of a neighborhood sento, not an all-day resort. For another tattoo-friendly option nearby with a different sauna focus, see Irifune Onsen; for a wider facility comparison, use the Osaka day-use onsen guide.
Wako’s official site gives its address as 1-7-6 Sanno, while the bathhouse association lists 1-7-10. Search for “Ofuroya Wako” in your map app; the facility name is a safer locator than relying on the differing lot numbers. The main bath is described at around 42°C, a bathing temperature rather than spring temperature. There is no verified natural spring source, and the garden bath is artificially carbonated—not a natural carbon-dioxide spring. The salt bath is another feature bath, not a spring-water claim.
The facility suits an early arrival, a stay around Shin-Imamiya or Tennoji’s south side, or anyone who wants a low-cost bath with an explicit tattoo policy. It is less suitable if you need a documented natural spring, private bath, stone sauna or resort-style lounge. Wako has a coin laundry, which can make a longer stop useful while travelling, but it remains a working local bathhouse rather than a place to spend half a day.
For the nearby alternatives, Irifune is another tattoo-friendly sento with a more sauna-focused setup. SPAWORLD is a much larger commercial bathing complex, so it makes more sense when you want to build a longer outing around the facilities. Wako is the lighter stop: basic admission, a morning opening and a short walk from the station.
