Myoko’s Ikenotaira area is spread out between the mountain, ski facilities and lakeside trails. ALPEN BLICK Spa is a straightforward stop if you want a bath with proper day-use facilities rather than a quick visit to a small ryokan. Its most distinctive feature is the contrast between the dark outdoor bath and the clear indoor water.
Two baths with different looks
The outdoor bath is the one to seek out if you want to see Ikenotaira’s characteristic black water. The spa describes it as a sulfur-bearing source with black mud. Indoors, the source is filtered and appears clear. The colour difference reflects the water treatment and presentation; it is not a reason to assume one bath is a different kind of facility.
Be careful with temperature figures found in regional hot-spring material. The spa’s current visitor information does not give one simple source temperature that can be treated as the temperature of either bathing pool. Source figures from the wider Ikenotaira area, or from the hotel’s separate spring description, are not the same as the water temperature at the spa.
The sauna is currently open again: the resort announced its return to service from September 5, 2026 after repairs. As with any facility that has had maintenance work, check the latest notice if the sauna is the main reason for your visit.

Season boundaries and special openings can change, so check the spa’s calendar around transition periods. Older search results may use names such as “Onsen Café” or “Landmark Myoko Kogen”; the current facility name is ALPEN BLICK Spa.
Tattoos and getting there without a car
Guests with tattoos may use the bathing and sauna areas under the resort’s current policy. The spa provides dedicated cover stickers at the counter and asks visitors to use them on tattooed areas; its policy says full coverage of every design is not required. Follow the staff’s instructions when you arrive, since this is a venue-specific rule.
From Myoko-Kogen Station, the Myoko City Suginosawa Line stops at “Alpenblick Spa.” Confirm the bus timetable for your date before setting out. The resort’s green-season shuttle is described for overnight guests, so day visitors should not plan around it unless the hotel confirms otherwise.
