Nara Day-Use Onsen: Which Bath Fits Your Itinerary?
Compare Yurara no Yu, Nara Health Land and Kamokimi no Yu by price, location, visit length and practical restrictions.

For a short soak after sightseeing, Yurara no Yu Nara is the most straightforward of these three choices. Nara Health Land is better when you want to spend several hours in a large bathing and leisure complex. Kamokimi no Yu makes sense if your day is already taking you towards Gose or Katsuragi, or if you want to book a private bath. They are not close substitutes: the time and cost of getting there matter as much as the admission fee.
| Facility | Standard adult admission | Best fit | Check before you go |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yurara no Yu Nara | ¥850 weekdays; ¥910 weekends and public holidays | A post-sightseeing soak near Nara City | Tattoos are refused; it is not a station-front facility |
| Nara Health Land | ¥2,200 | A longer visit with rest areas and family facilities | A ¥1,650 surcharge applies for stays between 1:00 and 5:00 a.m.; some baths close for cleaning |
| Kamokimi no Yu | ¥700 weekdays; ¥800 weekends and public holidays | A visit around Gose/Katsuragi, especially by car | Tattoos and tattoo stickers are not allowed; 220 free parking spaces |
Rates above are standard, not special-period or campaign prices. Check the operator’s current notice if your visit falls on a holiday period or maintenance date.
Yurara no Yu Nara: easiest when you are short on time
The outdoor Suzaku bath uses natural hot-spring water; the carbonated bath is a separate feature. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided.

There is one important limitation for visitors: the branch is not immediately beside a major station, so include the local bus or taxi leg in your timing. The facility refuses entry to guests with tattoos, including fake tattoos. Its guidance also says children aged seven or older, or at least 130 cm tall, may not enter the opposite-sex bathing area with a parent.
The September 7–11, 2026 senior campaign has ended. The branch was temporarily cash-only during that promotion; confirm payment methods and the child policy before a family visit.
Nara Health Land: plan to stay longer than a quick bath
Nara Health Land in Tenri is open around the clock. Standard admission includes towels, indoor clothing, the large public bath and rest areas.
| Visit detail | Nara Health Land |
|---|---|
| Adult admission | ¥2,200 |
| Sauna area | ¥330 extra; ages 13 and over |
| Overnight surcharge | ¥1,650 for stays between 1 and 5 a.m. |
“Open 24 hours” does not mean every bath stays open all night. The women’s public bath closes for cleaning from 3:30 to 6:00 a.m.; cleaning preparation begins earlier, and some tubs are unavailable. Check the day’s facility hours if a late arrival is part of the plan.
The complex has family-oriented facilities, but some attractions and the indoor pool have separate hours and charges. Tattoo rules are conditional: the operator generally refuses guests with tattoos or imitation tattoos, but allows entry when tattoos are completely covered with its specified cover seals during bathing and while in the building. This is not an unconditional tattoo-friendly policy.
For the 2026 Silver Week period, September 19–23, the standard holiday pricing and pool schedule differ from an ordinary September weekday. The paid sauna area is separate from the Yamato sauna in the public bath; the latter was updated in February 2026. Check the full Health Land guide for the fee and pool breakdown.
Kamokimi no Yu: a better match for Gose and Katsuragi
Kamokimi no Yu is in Gose, west of central Nara. Public transport involves a bus connection, so it fits best when your other plans are already in the area.
The spring has a sodium-bicarbonate/chloride classification and a source temperature of 28.4°C; bath water is adjusted before use. The operator also has two reservable private rooms. Each booking is charged separately from admission, so the total depends on the day and party size.

|---|---|
| Hours | 10 a.m.–11 p.m.; last entry 10 p.m. |
| Adult admission | ¥700 weekdays; ¥800 weekends and public holidays |
| Child admission | ¥350 from age 3; younger children free |
| Parking | 220 free spaces |
| Private bath | ¥2,500 per room for 90 minutes, plus admission per guest |
For two adults, admission plus one room comes to ¥3,900 on a weekday or ¥4,100 on a weekend or holiday, before transport.
The public rules prohibit tattoos, including tattoo stickers. The official page does not describe the private baths as outdoor baths, so don’t infer that they are simply because the public bathing area has outdoor facilities. The Nara private and family bath comparison explains the distinction.
Gose City’s 2026 notice also lists a temporary closure on November 4 and an October 8 free-admission event for eligible residents; neither should be treated as a general discount for visitors.
Pick by where you will be, not by a small ticket difference
If you have only an hour or two after Nara Park, stay near the city and choose the option that fits your route. The difference between Yurara and Kamokimi’s weekday admission is ¥150; travelling across the prefecture to save that amount usually makes little sense.
Nara Health Land earns its higher entry fee when you will use the rest areas, baths and other facilities over a longer visit. Kamokimi is easier to justify when you are already visiting Gose, Katsuragi or the mountain foothills, or when a reservable private bath is a real requirement. If none of these fits, compare the wider range in the full Nara day-use onsen guide.
