Wa-no-Yu suits a stop near Namioka, Aomori Airport or the Tsugaru route, especially if you want a private bath. The public-bath rates and hours are listed below. JR Namioka Station is about a 20-minute walk away; the nearby bus stop or a car makes access easier.

The Aomori tourism authority’s page still shows older prices—¥470 for adults and ¥400 before 9 a.m.—as well as lower children’s fares. A dated August 2026 visit record and the current Aomori Onsen-do listing agree on ¥520 and ¥450. Budget to the newer figures, but check at the entrance because the tourism page has not caught up.
Private baths: water changes between groups
Wa-no-Yu has six private family-bath rooms. Its tourism listing says the water is replaced whenever one booking gives way to the next; the showers and taps also use spring water. Added water is allowed, which can help if the bath feels too hot. Every room has a changing area and a separate sitting space, but rooms cannot be selected in advance; television availability varies. Reservations can be made ahead, and the listed final reception is 8 p.m.
The published price changes on 1 October 2026, so check the date of your visit rather than relying on old blog posts or the tourism association’s older page:

The association also announces an 8-hour ticket increase from ¥10,000 to ¥12,000. It does not give an effective date for every ticket detail separately, so confirm the applicable rate when reserving. The ¥520 public-bath admission is separate unless the facility tells you otherwise.
What the water and main bath are like
Wa-no-Yu’s formal spring classification is an alkaline simple hot spring. Its water is dark brown, often compared in Japanese listings to oolong tea; colour is a visual description, not a water-quality assessment. The tourism authority highlights its large volume of spring water and the changeover of water in the private rooms.
The public bath is also listed with indoor and outdoor baths and a sauna. Current published information does not include a new 2026 water-analysis sheet with source temperature, pH or flow rate. An older local-history page records a 37°C source temperature, but that figure is historical and should not be used as a current reading. Access from Namioka and Aomori
Wa-no-Yu is at 133-1 Inoshita, Sugisawa, Namioka, Aomori City. The tourism listing says it is about a two-minute walk from the Namioka-kitaguchi bus stop, roughly three minutes by car from JR Namioka Station, and about 20 minutes on foot from the station. It also estimates five minutes by car from Namioka Interchange, 15 minutes from Aomori Airport and 30 minutes from Shin-Aomori Station. Free parking is available.
For a transit visit, check both bus directions and the return schedule before entering. A 20-minute walk can be less appealing in winter, with luggage or for anyone who has difficulty walking. If you are already heading through Namioka by car, it is an easy local stop; if you are staying near Aomori Station, the central options in the Aomori City onsen and sento guide are more convenient.
Wa-no-Yu or Popeye Onsen?
Popeye Onsen is the lower-cost choice at a listed ¥350 for adults and opens at 6 a.m. Wa-no-Yu’s early rate is ¥450 before 9 a.m.; its strongest point is the private-bath arrangement, with each room’s water changed between bookings and the option to add water. Pick according to the detail that affects your visit: minimum admission cost and the earliest start favour Popeye, while a temperature-adjustable private room favours Wa-no-Yu.
