Kajika-no-Yu in Suki: Natural Onsen, Sauna and the Kobayashi Bus

Visit Kajika-no-Yu for a ¥500 natural-spring bath, Finnish-style steam sauna and forest terrace; check its Thursday closures and community-bus timetable.

Checked: September 27, 2026

The draw at Kajika-no-Yu is the sequence: warm in the bath, use the löyly sauna, cool down in a bath supplied with onsen water, then take a break on the terrace looking toward the forest and Kirishima mountains. It is in Suki, outside central Kobayashi, so the setting is part of the visit—and so is the journey there.

Current facilities and admission

The operator classifies the water as a simple thermal spring. Its facility list names an indoor bath, sauna, cooling bath supplied with onsen water, rinse-in shampoo, body wash, hair dryers and a rest area. The outdoor area is a separate rest terrace.

Current source temperature, pH and flow rate are unconfirmed. Online figures predate the facility’s pump repairs and are not current specifications.

Reopened after the 2026 interruption

The bath’s natural spring service was interrupted by equipment problems, then again after the facility voluntarily paused operations when a Legionella result exceeded the standard. Kobayashi City says the site was inspected, repaired and cleaned under public-health guidance; after a reinspection by the Kobayashi Public Health Centre confirmed safety, it reopened on April 29, 2026.

That notice is the basis for the current operating status. The city and operator publish separate updates, so check for any newer temporary-closure notice before setting off.

Getting there from Kobayashi Station

Kobayashi City added a Kajika-no-Yu stop to the Kamikuse community-bus line from May 1, 2026. The city’s current timetable shows departures from Kobayashi Station at 11 am and 3 pm, with return departures from the bath stop at 12:22 pm and 4:15 pm. Those are limited connections, not a frequent shuttle; check the day’s route and the last return before choosing a bathing slot.

By car, the bath is a more natural addition to a Suki-area outing than a quick detour from Miyazaki City. Kajika-no-Yu is part of the Sukimuland area, where seasonal outdoor activities and lodging can turn a bath visit into a longer stop. If your plan is only to bathe, compare the drive or bus time with the city-side Bijin-no-yu guide.

Who will get the most from a visit

The facility suits sauna fans who want a steam-based session and somewhere outdoors to cool off. Families can use the public bath and rest area, but there is no private family bath listed on the current facility page. The operator also does not give a clear public tattoo policy; if that matters, call before travelling.

For the wider context behind its recent closure and the other current baths in Kobayashi, see the Kannogo status and alternatives guide. Kajika-no-Yu offers a forest setting and sauna; Bijin-no-yu is closer to town and has a separate family-bath facility.
