Compare Bijin-no-Yu and Cosmos Onsen in Kobayashi by price, sauna and pool options, closing days and water temperature before choosing a bath.
Checked: September 27, 2026
For a standard public-bath visit, these two Kobayashi facilities are close enough in price to choose by bathing style. Bijin-no-Yu charges adults ¥550; Cosmos Onsen charges ¥500. If a sauna, outdoor bathing or room to vary your soak matters, the extra ¥50 buys noticeably more choice. If you enjoy hot water and want a direct, no-frills spring, Cosmos is the more focused stop.

The practical difference is temperature versus choice
Cosmos keeps the experience compact. The Kyushu Onsen Road listing describes a bicarbonate spring flowing directly from the source, with the lower-temperature pool around 42°C and the hotter one around 45°C. Neither is a genuinely mild soak. If you are unsure about hot water, start with the 42°C pool and leave time to cool off; there is no need to test the hotter bath just because it is there.
Bijin-no-Yu is easier to share with people who want different things. Its public area includes an outdoor bath, walking bath, bubble bath, jet bath, sauna and cold bath. Shampoo and body wash are provided. Adults can also buy a day ticket for ¥800 rather than the ¥550 single visit, useful if you plan to make a longer visit of it.
Bijin-no-Yu does not admit guests with tattoos, even small ones. Its closure dates are posted monthly. Cosmos closes on Thursdays, and the city asks visitors to confirm current rates and details with each facility.
Keep the family-bath option separate
Bijin-no-Yu’s nine private family rooms are in a separate building across the road, with their own hours and rates. They are not included in the public-bath ticket. Each group gets freshly replaced bathwater; reservations are advisable, especially on weekends. Cosmos does not list a regular private family-bath product.
That distinction can decide the trip before the ¥50 comparison does. For a private room, use the existing Bijin-no-Yu public bath and family bath guide. For a focused look at Cosmos’s hot pools, see the Cosmos Onsen guide.
Both baths are easier by car or taxi than by public transport. Cosmos is about five minutes from Kobayashi Interchange and around twelve minutes by taxi from JR Kobayashi Station. Bijin-no-Yu has a 70-space car park. If you are already heading toward Suki, Kajika-no-Yu is another distinct option rather than a third stop to squeeze into the same day.
