Honoka-no-yu Near Miyazaki Airport: A Private Onsen Before or After a Flight
Book a fully private hot-spring room 500 metres from Miyazaki Airport; standard 55-minute sessions start at ¥3,000, with the key due back five minutes early.
Checked: September 27, 2026
Miyazaki City describes the airport branch as roughly 500 metres from Miyazaki Airport. That puts it unusually close for a private onsen, but it does not make the whole visit a 55-minute errand. You still need time to reach the shop, change, bathe, return to the terminal and complete your airline’s check-in and security requirements.
Room time, not per-person admission
The airport branch has seven private rooms, all in the Semi Premium category. Each has an indoor bath and a small outdoor reclining bath. The listed prices are per room, so two or five people share the same base charge; each guest beyond five adds ¥500.
| Booking length | Standard-price dates | High-season price |
|---|---|---|
| 55 minutes | ¥3,000 | ¥4,100 |
| 85 minutes | ¥4,500 | ¥5,600 |
| 115 minutes | ¥6,000 | ¥7,100 |
The room clock includes changing and washing, and the key must be returned five minutes before the slot ends. A 55-minute booking therefore leaves about 50 minutes in the room. Towels are not included; a face-and-bath towel set costs ¥500. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided.
Starting October 1, 2026, weekends and public holidays at Honoka-no-yu’s Miyazaki branches will carry an extra ¥1,100 on top of the usual rate. The airport page still shows its standard and high-season tables, so use the price shown for your branch and date in the reservation flow—especially if your visit falls on both a weekend and a high-season date. The published September high-season period runs through September 27.
Keep the flight plan flexible
Reservations receive priority, but the operator warns that a room may not be ready exactly at the booked time. That uncertainty matters more before departure than after arrival. If you are bathing before a flight, work backward from the airline’s required terminal time, then allow for the walk, changing, the booked slot, possible waiting and any luggage or rental-car return. There is no single buffer that works for every flight.
After landing, the same location is easier to use: there is no departure cutoff while you are in the bath. On weekdays the facility opens at 10 a.m.; on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays it opens at 9 a.m. Last entry is 10 p.m., and the doors close at 11 p.m. It has 15 parking spaces and a direct booking phone line at 0985-56-8860.
The rooms use source-flow water, but the airport branch does not publish a full current spring-analysis sheet with classification, source temperature and pH. Do not borrow the figures for Honoka-no-yu’s Kaeda branch; they are separate sources and facilities. Tattoo rules are also not specified on the airport branch’s current information page. Ask this branch directly rather than assuming that private-room bathing or the Kaeda policy applies here.
If you are choosing between the two Honoka branches, the Kaeda-versus-airport comparison weighs the room options and travel routes. The Aoshima and Kaeda no-car route guide covers the wider public-transport picture.
