Aoshima Onsen Saunas Compared: Shinwa-no-yu, Cinq-Male and ANA

Compare Shinwa-no-yu’s source-water cold bath, Cinq-Male’s auto-löyly and ANA’s ocean-view bathing area; temperatures are not published.

Checked: September 27, 2026 Three Aoshima-area baths have saunas, but their best reason to go differs. Choose by the part of the circuit you care about, then check admission and transport; a day-use ticket at the coast is not the same product as a hotel stay.

Shinwa-no-yu: come for the spring-water cold bath

The unusual detail at Shinwa-no-yu is not a published sauna temperature or an hourly löyly schedule; the facility does not list either. Its cold bath uses source water directly. The spring is classified as an alkaline simple sulfur cold mineral spring, with a published pH of 9.4. A dry sauna, outdoor spring bath and two reservable private-use baths complete the setup.

An adult day ticket costs ¥700 and remains valid for re-entry during the same day. The facility opens at 6 a.m., and Aoshima Station is about a three-minute walk away, which makes it the easiest option here for a short visit without a car. The private-use baths are separate: reserve one for ¥1,800 for 60 minutes. Tattoos are not permitted, and the facility asks guests not to bring children who are still in diapers into the bathing area.

Cinq-Male: the clearest choice for auto-löyly

Hotel Aoshima Cinq-Male renovated its public-bath sauna in January 2026 and added auto-löyly, a timed water pour over the sauna stones. That is the most specific, dated sauna update among these three. The public bath also has a jet bath and cold bath, but no outdoor bath; the hotel’s outdoor private-use baths are a separate, reservable product and are not included in an ordinary sauna visit.

The hotel’s current notice lists September 30, 2026 as a full closure and a 3 p.m. reopening on October 1. Check again before travelling on a special date. It is also the least convenient of the three to reach by train, so add taxi or other transport costs if you are not driving.

ANA: a fuller bathing circuit, not a sauna-spec sheet

ANA Holiday Inn Resort Miyazaki has an ocean-facing public bath with a sauna, cold bath, outdoor rock bath and other tubs. The current facilities page does not list a sauna temperature or cold-bath reading. Towels are extra.

Day-use detailCurrent listing
Adult admission¥1,100
Child admission¥550
University student with ID¥650
Bath hours11 a.m.–10 p.m.
Last entry9 p.m.

The hotel’s online coupon lists ¥800 for adults and ¥500 for children. Blackout dates and booking conditions apply, so this is not a walk-up price. Its trial direct shuttle from Miyazaki Airport ends September 30, 2026. The ANA stop rules are directional; see the Aoshima and Kaeda transport guide before relying on the route.

All three facilities prohibit tattoos under their current direct-operator rules; the available pages do not establish a cover-up or private-room exception. Shinwa-no-yu also asks that children still in diapers not use the bath. Check child bathing rules with each property if the age or height of a child in your group is near a boundary.

If sauna hardware comes first, Cinq-Male has the most concrete recent upgrade. For the cold bath itself, Shinwa-no-yu has a local feature the other two do not advertise. ANA makes sense when you want several baths and a broad ocean view in one stop. None of the three publishes all the temperatures sauna-focused visitors sometimes look for, so do not infer a fixed setting from a photo or marketing label.
