Hotel Hirugami no Mori: Which Room and Stay Plan Make Sense?

Compare Hirugami no Mori’s tatami and bed rooms, public baths, seasonal pool and meal times, then check current operating notes before booking.

A riverside view near Hirugami Onsen

Hotel Hirugami no Mori is easiest to choose when you want a conventional inn stay with a large public bath, seasonal meals and, in summer, an indoor pool. Room choice is the bigger practical decision: most listed rooms are Japanese-style, while the small Japanese-modern category has twin beds and is limited to two guests. The hotel does not publish a private hot-spring bath as a standard room feature, so confirm the exact room’s bathing facilities before booking if you need one.

One current caveat deserves attention. The hotel’s bathing page still lists its public bath and day-use schedule, but it also warns that irregular closures can increase. A May 2026 notice discusses preparations for a future large-bath renovation, without giving construction dates. It does not say that the bath is currently closed; check the hotel’s latest notice or call before committing to a date when bathing is central to the trip.

Pick the room around beds, space and views

The room page lists four categories, all with tatami flooring. The standard room and upper-floor mountain-view room are both 10-mat Japanese-style rooms. The mountain-view option is on the fourth floor; the hotel describes views toward the surrounding hills and the hot-spring town. Those are still futon rooms, so reserve them for travelers comfortable sleeping on the floor.

Two room types add beds. The top-floor Japanese-modern room has 10 tatami mats, two twin beds and a two-guest limit; the hotel lists five rooms. The deluxe room exceeds 20 mats and combines twin beds with a separate eight-mat Japanese room. The hotel lists six deluxe rooms per day; from the third guest onward, bedding is futons.

The official room page lists a washlet toilet, air conditioning, an empty refrigerator, Wi-Fi, towels, toothbrushes and yukata. It does not clearly state whether each category has a private bath or shower. If bathing in-room is essential, ask about the exact room rather than treating the room-category name or photos as confirmation. A limited number of simple extra beds may be available by advance request; the hotel says supply is limited.

The bath is a shared facility, not a private-room feature

The public bath has 18 shower stations, space for 40 bathers and an open-air bath. Day-use details:

ItemCurrent listing
Admission¥1,000 adults; ¥700 children; towels extra
Standard entry3–8 p.m.; leave by 9 p.m.
26 Dec–3 JanEntry from 10:30 a.m.

The facility also has irregular rest days and additional closures; check that it is open before visiting.

The same page says people who are intoxicated or have tattoos cannot enter. The large bath has a handrail in one area, but the hotel also notes steps at the tub edge and inside the tub. Ask the property directly about access if those details affect your plans.

For overnight guests, the public pages reviewed here do not give a complete day-by-day bathing timetable. Do not assume the day-use hours describe the overnight schedule. The hotel’s May 2026 notice says it is preparing for a future bath renewal, while its live bath page continues to publish current facilities and day-use terms. No dated renovation closure appears in that notice as of September 28, 2026.

Meals have set windows

Dinner is a seasonal Shinshu-style kaiseki meal, with content varying by plan. The hotel lists seating at 5:15, 5:45 or 6:30 p.m.; tell it your preferred time in the reservation notes and confirm if you have a late arrival. Meals are served in a dining venue, not in the guest room.

Breakfast is normally buffet-style from 7 to 9 a.m., and guests should arrive by 8:30. Depending on occupancy and the day’s booking situation, the hotel may serve a Japanese set breakfast instead. If a particular menu or dietary accommodation matters, contact the hotel before booking; the general meal page does not promise a specific menu for every plan.

Treat the pool as a seasonal extra

The indoor pool has an 80-metre slide and a shallow children’s pool. In 2026 it operated daily from July 18 to August 31, then on selected dates through September 23. That season has ended; dates for the next season are unconfirmed.

The 2026 pool terms were:

VisitorAdmission and access
Day visitor¥1,300 adults; ¥1,000 children aged 3 through elementary school
Overnight guestNo extra charge from 1 p.m. on arrival day; eligible post-checkout access was 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m.

Bring swimwear. The slide has a 120 cm minimum height. Check next season’s dates and terms before booking for the pool.

Families weighing the pool against child-specific room and bath arrangements can also compare the Hirugami family stay guide. For a plan built around arrival times and one overnight, see the Hirugami one-night itinerary.

When this property is a good fit

The strongest case for staying here is having the public bath, meals and seasonal pool in one property, with a larger deluxe room available for groups who need both beds and tatami space. It is less straightforward if you require a private in-room bath, a fully bed-based room for more than two people, or guaranteed pool access outside the published summer dates. The meal schedule also gives you less flexibility than a room-only stay.

Before paying, match the room category to the actual number of beds and futons you want, confirm whether that exact room has a private washroom or bath, and check both dinner seating and the bath’s current operating notice. If you are driving in winter, ask about road conditions and parking details; the hotel’s access page gives its address but not a detailed seasonal transport guide. For public transit, settle your final leg separately rather than assuming the hotel provides a pickup.
