Tokyo Somei Onsen SAKURA: Weekday and Weekend Prices, Shuttle Bus and Spring Water
Somei Onsen SAKURA near Sugamo costs ¥2,100 on weekdays or ¥2,900 on weekends, plus bathing tax. Towels are extra; the spa suits a longer visit.
SAKURA makes most sense when you have a few hours to spend. It is a day-use spa with a garden, restaurant, sauna and rest space, rather than a quick station-side bath. The adult ticket has separate weekday and weekend rates, plus a bathing tax; towels are extra.
A natural spring, but not every pool uses it
The source is Tokyo Somei Onsen, drawn from about 1,800 metres underground. SAKURA lists it as an iodine-bearing sodium-chloride strong-saline spring, with a source temperature of 46.6°C and a flow rate of 56 litres per minute. The spring is used in the outdoor rock baths on both sides, the women’s Japanese-style outdoor bath and the cypress indoor baths. Other pools and the sauna are separate parts of the facility; the listed source temperature is not the set temperature of each bathing pool.
The sauna and cold bath make it easy to spend longer, and there are indoor rest spaces and a restaurant if you want a break between rounds. There is no time limit on the admission ticket, but the building closes at 11 p.m. Entry ends at 10:30 p.m. and bath use at 10:50 p.m.

| Add-on | Price |
|---|---|

| Bath towel | ¥250 |
| Indoor wear | ¥450 |

The standard ticket excludes towels and indoor wear. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided. The pass is valid on weekdays and weekends without a date surcharge, making it useful mainly for repeat visitors.
The free shuttle is helpful, with one catch
SAKURA runs a free shuttle from JR Sugamo Station. The timetable was revised in April 2024; traffic can delay it, bad weather may interrupt service, and a full bus may leave before its scheduled time. The last bus back to Sugamo leaves at 11:10 p.m. Be at the stop early if you are relying on it.
The adjacent Tokyo Swimming Center parking lot has 88 spaces. The first two hours are free; spending ¥3,000 gives two more free hours, while ¥5,000 in facility spending qualifies for all-day parking. Since a long visit can include meals or treatments, the parking offer may matter to drivers, but there is no reason to spend extra just to reach a threshold.
SAKURA does not admit guests with tattoos, regardless of size. Children under six cannot use the changing room or bath; children who still need diapers or training pants are not allowed in the bath. Cross-gender bathing is restricted from age seven or 120 cm, whichever comes first. Guests under 18 need a parent or guardian.
Choose SAKURA when you want to make a half-day of bathing and downtime and the spring itself matters. If you only have an hour, a less expensive sento or day-use bath closer to your plans will be easier to justify. The Tokyo day-use onsen guide compares other options.
