Sakaeyu near JR Noda: A Steam-Sauna Stop before Midnight

Find Sakaeyu near JR Noda and Tamagawa stations. Check its steam sauna, cold bath, ¥600 admission, midnight closing and Monday rest day.

Sakaeyu is a useful end-of-day option if your plans already take you through Noda or Tamagawa. It is a three-minute walk from JR Osaka Loop Line’s Noda Station and about five minutes from Osaka Metro’s Tamagawa Station. The bathhouse lists opening hours of 2 p.m.–midnight and closes on Mondays.

Inside, the association confirms a steam sauna, cold bath and soft-water bath, plus an electric bath and massage machine. It is a traditional sento with a straightforward setup rather than a large spa. Adult admission is ¥600 at the current standard rate for Osaka association-member public bathhouses; the current association page does not list a sauna surcharge.

Let the return route decide

The short walk is most useful when JR Noda or Tamagawa is already near your hotel or dinner plans. You can make Sakaeyu a simple evening stop without adding a second train ride across Osaka. If you are coming from farther away solely for a steam sauna, check the time spent travelling against the bath’s midnight closing.

There is no published last-admission time. Give yourself room to wash and bathe rather than aiming for midnight. The association listing does not show an attached car park, so train or metro access is the safer assumption for a visitor.

The name “Sakaeyu” and the presence of soft water do not establish a natural hot spring. The current facility listing provides no spring analysis. If your evening runs late, the Fukushima Ward sento guide includes later-closing alternatives; for a wider overview, see the Osaka sento guide.

What the outdoor bath is—and is not

The city describes Sakaeyu’s outdoor bath as open-air, with a translucent white roof that lets daylight into the bathing area. It gives the room a change of light and fresh air after the steam sauna, but it is not a mountain-view or waterfront rotenburo. The association also lists a soft-water cold bath alongside the steam sauna, cold bath, electric bath and massage chair. The Osaka city page and bathhouse association both still list the steam sauna as an operating feature, so older directory entries saying it had ended should not outweigh the newer listings.

Open-air bath at Tatsumi Onsen, one of Sakaeyu’s nearby alternatives

Sakaeyu is a neighbourhood bath, not a destination spa. If your hotel is around Noda, the three-to-five-minute walk is its strongest point. From Namba, Tennoji or Umeda, the extra trip may not be worthwhile unless you already have plans in this area.

Sakaeyu has no listed last-admission time or dedicated car park. Tattoo policy: Unconfirmed. Arrive around 10 p.m. for time to use the sauna and outdoor bath before changing; the bathhouse is closed Mondays.

The source guide’s seven-point scorecard rates Sakaeyu 70/100 for bathing comfort, 60 for bath variety, 70 for upkeep, 55 for atmosphere, 60 for quiet, 85 for access and 85 for value. These are editorial impressions, not measured scores; its short station walk and public-listed features are more useful for planning.

For the next-later option, read the Yasaka Onsen late-night guide; if a documented natural spring is the priority, use the Osaka day-onsen guide rather than treating Sakaeyu’s open-air bath as an onsen resort.
