Ogi Onsen in Daito: A Reopened Neighborhood Sento with a Three-Tier Sauna
Ogi Onsen in Daito reopened in 2024 with an auto-loyly sauna, outdoor bath and 13 free parking spaces. Admission is ¥600; sauna adds ¥200.
Ogi Onsen is a good fit for a bath or sauna stop in eastern Osaka, especially if you are staying around Daito or arriving by car. It is about a seven-to-eight-minute walk from JR Suminodo Station. The bathhouse is closed Thursdays and currently lists hours of 14:00–24:00.
Adult bathing costs ¥600. The sauna is an extra ¥200 and includes a rental bath towel, so the adult bath-and-sauna total is ¥800. Middle-school students pay ¥400, elementary-school children ¥200 and preschoolers ¥100. The operator accepts cash and PayPay; free shampoo and body wash are provided. There are 13 parking spaces, but the operator says to use nearby coin parking if its lot is full.
The association and operator put the walk from Suminodo Station at about seven to eight minutes. Ogi is on the JR Gakkentoshi Line, which makes it easier from Kyobashi and eastern Osaka than from Namba or Umeda. If you are making a special trip across town, allow for the transfer and the return train rather than judging the bath by its low admission alone.
The sauna is the main upgrade
The sauna has three seating levels and scheduled auto-loyly, which adds bursts of steam to the heated stones. The source lists the sauna on both sides and charges the same ¥200 add-on. A cold bath and outdoor bath make it possible to move between heat, cooling down and fresh air without paying for a separate spa zone.
Recent user-maintained sauna readings vary, so they are not a dependable year-round temperature specification. The useful, stable point is the setup: a three-level room with auto-loyly, plus a cold bath and outdoor space. Add the sauna if you enjoy that hot-cold-rest cycle; the regular baths are enough for a simpler wash and soak.
There is still plenty to do without the sauna: the bath list includes a main bath, shallow bath, jets, electric bath, bubble bath, a low-temperature “body-temperature” bath and an outdoor bath. The lobby has a Nordic-inspired design, drinks, original goods and a beer tap. Think of that as a place to sit after bathing, not an overnight lounge or a place to sleep.
Ogi’s name includes “onsen,” but the current operator and association listings do not publish a natural spring analysis for the baths. The water-source claim is therefore unconfirmed in the public information available; the sauna and bath types are the reliable reasons to choose it.
For a more relaxed visit without using the sauna, the bath list also includes a main and shallow bath, jets, electric and bubble baths, and a body-temperature bath. The low-temperature option gives non-sauna visitors another way to linger, while the outdoor bath is a change of pace rather than evidence of a natural spring.
A local bath that came back
Ogi closed in March 2024, then Yutonamisha announced that it would take over the bathhouse. It reopened after renovation in November that year. The story matters because the current venue keeps the scale of a local sento while adding a more substantial sauna and a lobby where visitors can pause after bathing.
The reopening was part of Yutonamisha’s work taking over neighborhood bathhouses at risk of closure. Ogi has since appeared in the operator’s and sauna community’s 2026 seasonal collaboration listings. That confirms it remains part of the active sento and sauna scene; it does not prove that it is the most popular bath in Osaka. The lobby’s drinks, beer tap and original goods make it pleasant to sit for a while, but there is no advertised nap area or overnight facility.
Yutonamisha says tattoos are accepted at all of its sento, which includes Ogi Onsen. If you are coming from central Osaka, check the return train before you go; the bath is most convenient when Suminodo or Daito is already on your route.
There are 13 free spaces at the bathhouse. Drivers have a clear advantage here over visitors making a cross-city rail trip, though the lot can fill. If you want to combine the visit with something local, the operator also highlights Suminodo’s neighborhood night market, held on the last Wednesday evening of the month; check its current schedule before planning around it.
