Choosing a Ryokan in Tsukioka Onsen: Masyuu, Hisagosou or Senkei
Compare Masyuu’s room-only stay, Hisagosou’s limited day bath and Senkei’s wider bathing and dining options by room and transport terms.
Tsukioka has more than one way to spend a night. Masyuu makes sense when you want to stay on site and use its baths; Hisagosou is a smaller-feeling base near the hot-spring street; Senkei is a larger property with extensive dining and bath facilities. Their names alone do not tell you whether the room bath is spring water or whether a day visitor can enter.
Three properties, three different priorities

Masyuu: choose it for an overnight stay
Masyuu’s official site says it does not accept day bathing. Its current room page describes four categories across 38 rooms; the upgraded categories add a living space or a view bath. Those in-room tubs are not supplied by the natural spring. The hotel’s outdoor baths and charter bath are separate facilities and use source water, according to the property.
Dinner is selected from three courses when booking, and the property limits a party to six guests. Masyuu suits a couple or small group planning to spend the evening at the inn. It is not a fallback for a late-afternoon soak.
Hisagosou: location and a shorter day-use window
Hisagosou’s day-bath plan makes it the easiest of these three to understand as a short bath stop: ¥1,000 for adults and ¥550 for children. Hours are 11 am–2 pm, with last entry at 1 pm.
The plan is irregular and recommends calling ahead. Overnight guests book under separate room and meal terms, so do not assume the day ticket describes their bathing hours.
Hisagosou is a practical choice if you want to spend time in the hot-spring street and return to a ryokan. For a day visit later in the afternoon, Bijo-no-Izumi stays open longer and is the simpler public-bath option.
Senkei: facilities and meal choices under one roof
Senkei has several guest-room categories, including Japanese rooms, twin rooms, Japanese-plus-twin rooms and rooms with private outdoor baths. Its self-owned Shiratama-no-Yu spring is listed at 43.8°C, with a bathing temperature of 39–42°C and a flow rate of 234 litres per minute. Those figures describe Senkei’s source, not the other properties.
Senkei’s day-use product is a meal, bath and private dining room package, with individual bookings requiring at least three adults. It should not be mistaken for a walk-in bathing ticket. For an overnight stay, compare the meal plan and exact room facilities; the dedicated day package does not define what is included in a lodging reservation.
Compare the total stay, not a headline rate
For two adults, write down the same dates, meal plan, cancellation terms and room type before comparing prices. Then check transport, luggage storage, bath hours and whether the private bath uses spring water. A room with a tub is not necessarily a room with an onsen, and an inn that takes day visitors can still have different guest hours.
