Sakihana Onsen After 3 pm: Which Day Baths Can Still Fit?
After 3 p.m., call Ryusuien, Issuiso, Hekisuiso or Bousenkaku about same-day access; check the return train before choosing a bath.
Arriving in Sakihana after 3 pm changes the shortlist. Several inns have already reached the end of their ordinary day-bath window, while others accept visitors only when the day’s guest schedule allows it. A late train arrival is not a reason to count on a bath being open just because overnight guests can still use the hot spring.
| Arrival time | First call to make | What the listing tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Around 3 pm | Ryusuien, Issuiso, Hekisuiso or Bousenkaku | Satorikan’s last reception is 2 pm; Marumatsu’s listed window ends at 3 pm |
| 3–5 pm | Ryusuien | Listed day use runs until 8:30 pm, but closing is irregular and the last entry time is not specified |
| After 5 pm | Ryusuien, then ask about a booked meal-and-bath plan | Ordinary admission is uncertain; see the evening guide |
At 3 pm, don’t aim for a bath that closes at 3
Satorikan’s ordinary day-use window is listed as 11 am–3 pm, with last reception at 2 pm. Hotel Marumatsu’s reference window also ends at 3 pm. If your train is scheduled to arrive around that time, neither is a sensible walk-in plan; ask first, but expect to choose elsewhere.
Issuiso begins reception at 11 am and allows about 60 minutes, but its final reception time changes every day. Hekisuiso has no fixed public schedule and may stop day admission depending on bookings and cleaning. Bousenkaku also decides same-day availability and operating hours based on its schedule. Call before leaving, not after reaching the platform.
Ryusuien has the broadest listed window
Gosen Tourism lists Ryusuien from 9 am to 8:30 pm at ¥600, with irregular closing days. That makes it the first place to ask about when a visit slips into the afternoon. The listing does not specify a last-entry time, so a 4 pm closing window is not permission to arrive at 8 pm. Ask the inn when you can arrive and how long you will have.
Bousenkaku’s ordinary day admission is a separate, same-day-confirmed option. Its current bath page lists adults at ¥800 and children aged two through elementary school at ¥600, with babies aged zero to one free. The bath visit is limited to an hour and towels are not included. The inn asks people to call after 10 am on the day; its overnight bath hours do not apply to day visitors.
After 5 pm, treat it as an evening visit
Once you arrive after 5 pm, the distinction between an ordinary day ticket and a pre-booked evening meal plan matters more. Ryusuien remains the only inn with a clearly listed ordinary day-use window extending into the evening, but admission is still subject to its irregular closing and a phone check. Bousenkaku’s night-return plans bundle bathing with a meal and have group and booking conditions; they are not a cheap walk-in alternative.
Check the return JR Ban’etsu West Line train before you call. Sakihana Station is close to the inns, but the service is sparse enough that the final train can matter more than a short walk. If you want a later soak, the evening day-bath guide separates ordinary admission from meal plans. For the lower-cost inns’ usual hours, see the budget day-bath comparison.
