Day-Use Onsen in Saito and Koyu: Which Bath Fits Your Route?
Compare Tsumayu, Sun Lupinus and Kijo Onsen Yurara by price, spring, facilities and route. Meirin-no-Yu in Takanabe closed in May 2026.

Saito and the Koyu district are not a single onsen town. The baths are spread between Saito, Shintomi and Kijo, and the best choice depends on where your day is already taking you. Tsumayu pairs naturally with the Saitobaru burial mounds; Sun Lupinus is the easiest rail-side bath; Kijo Onsen Yurara is better set up for a family or a longer stop.

If the spring itself is the reason for going
The three facilities differ in published spring data, admission and how much of the visit can be done without a car.

Sun Lupinus is the easiest of the three to reach without a car. Tsumayu has the clearest published source-flow figures. Yurara offers the widest mix of bathing areas.
Don’t plan around an old listing
Takanabe Onsen Meirin-no-Yu closed on May 31, 2026. Older area guides may still show it as a convenient stop near Takanabe Interchange, but it is not an option now. For the northern end of the region, check Sun Lupinus’s current calendar before travelling; its full reopening followed repair work, and closure notices can change.
If you are headed to the Saitobaru burial mounds, Tsumayu is the natural end-of-day stop. The separate Saitobaru and Tsumayu half-day plan works through the museum and walking route. For a broader choice nearer the city, compare the Miyazaki City day-use baths.
