Fujiyama Onsen Is Closed: Where to Bathe After Fuji-Q Highland
Fujiyama Onsen remains closed after 2026 earthquake damage. Compare nearby baths after Fuji-Q Highland, with access, hours and natural-spring options.
Updated September 2026
Fujiyama Onsen is not a post-park option right now. It closed for renovations on June 24, 2026; after the June 26 earthquake, the operator found damage in part of the building and extended the closure while repairs and a full safety check are carried out. The official site has not announced a reopening date. Its old ticket price, shuttle schedule and bath details should not be treated as current services.
For a bath after Fuji-Q, choose between three different kinds of alternative: Sensui for a late, inexpensive wash, Kaiun no Yu for a natural spring if you call ahead, and Yurari for a fuller onsen outing with Fuji views.
| Alternative | Adult price listed | What it suits | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fujisan Lava Spring Sensui | ¥900; morning bath ¥650 | A straightforward bath near Fuji-Q and the expressway | Uses Fujisan groundwater; not presented as a legally classified natural hot spring |
| Kaiun no Yu at Royal Hotel Kawaguchiko | ¥1,000 for two hours | Natural spring near Kawaguchiko | Day-use hours are “please inquire”; call before going |
| Fuji View Hot Spring Yurari | ¥1,400 weekday / ¥1,700 weekends before 7 p.m., towels included | A longer onsen visit with several baths and Mount Fuji views | In Narusawa, not next to Fuji-Q; check transport home |
For a late finish: Sensui
| Sensui visit | Published terms |
|---|---|
| Regular admission | Adult ¥900 |
| Regular hours | 10 a.m.–11 p.m.; last admission 10:30 p.m. |
| Morning bath | 6–9 a.m.; adult ¥650; closed Thursdays |
The facility uses water from Mount Fuji’s underground flow and has a carbonated-calcium bath, Himalayan rock-salt bath, cooler bath, sauna and outdoor bath with a Fuji view. Those features do not make it a listed natural hot spring. It is better thought of as a practical public bath with Fuji groundwater, particularly for guests driving or leaving Fuji-Q late.
Sensui accepts cash only; towels are not included and tattoos are not permitted. Fuji Station is about a 21-minute walk away. The facility is a short drive from Kawaguchiko and Fuji-Yoshida interchanges, so a taxi may be easier after a full day at the park.
If natural spring water is non-negotiable: call Kaiun no Yu
| Kaiun no Yu | Published detail |
|---|---|
| Day-use ticket | Adults ¥1,000 for 2 hours; towels extra |
| Source | Fuyo Onsen, “Kawaguchiko Town No. 2 Source” |
| Source temperature / yield | 36.1°C / 220 litres per minute |
| Baths | Each side has an indoor bath and two garden or outdoor baths |
Kaiun no Yu is part of Royal Hotel Kawaguchiko.
The snag is opening time: the hotel’s day-use page says to inquire. Do not assume it will take walk-ins at a particular hour, especially after Fuji-Q closes. It works best if you are already around Kawaguchiko and can call first.
For the baths themselves: Yurari
Yurari is farther from Fuji-Q, in Narusawa, but offers a more substantial onsen visit. Admission includes a face towel and bath towel; the source temperature is not the temperature of each bath.
| Yurari admission | Weekday | Weekend / holiday |
|---|---|---|
| Before 7 p.m. | ¥1,400 | ¥1,700 |
| After 7 p.m. | ¥1,200 | ¥1,500 |
| Spring and facility detail | Published information |
|---|---|
| Baths | 16, including Mount Fuji-facing options |
| Source temperature | 31°C |
From Kawaguchiko Station, take a local bus toward Motosuko or reserve the free shuttle at least an hour in advance. This is a poor last-minute detour after a late park visit unless you have checked the return journey.
| Yurari last admission | Time |
|---|---|
| Weekdays | 8 p.m. |
| Weekends and holidays | 9 p.m. |
Benifuji no Yu would normally be another Mount Fuji-view option, but it is scheduled to close from September 28, 2026 through March 2027. Fujiyama Onsen and Benifuji should both stay off a near-term itinerary until their operators announce reopening details. For the wider area, see the Fuji Five Lakes guide.
