Four adults who each want a regular bed should look at Standard Four A. Deluxe Four adds space and separates the bathroom and toilet, which is useful when several people are getting ready at once. The Baby Room is about packing less
The 42 m² Baby Room sleeps up to four and lists a cot, microwave, air purifier, bath chair, baby tub, step stool, child toilet seat, nappy bin, baby wash, toys and large picture books. The bathroom and toilet are separate.
That equipment is most useful when you still need to prepare bottles, bathe a baby or manage nappies in the room. If your child has outgrown most of it, compare the Baby Room with Four A and Deluxe Four: one prioritizes childcare gear, the others may suit fixed beds or a more convenient bathroom layout. Child rates, meals and extra bedding depend on the booking plan and age entered, so verify those details for your dates.
The onsen is downstairs, not in the room
The third-floor bath uses Beppu natural hot spring water, classified as a simple spring with low osmotic pressure, weak alkalinity and high source temperature. Facilities include a large indoor bath, an open-air bath and a sauna. Staying guests can bathe from 5 to 10 am and 4 pm to midnight.
The hotel does not publish a current precise pH, source temperature or a full per-bath breakdown of dilution, heating, circulation or disinfection. The spring’s “high-temperature” classification does not tell you the exact temperature of the water in a particular tub.
For adults who are happy with a communal bath, this is a useful setup: you can soak in the evening and again in the morning, while the sauna and outdoor bath add options beyond a basic indoor pool. It may be less straightforward with a young child who needs a parent of a different gender to help, or for anyone uncomfortable with shared changing rooms. The regular room bath is useful for washing, but it is not a replacement for a private natural onsen.

Meals are a choice, not an automatic part of the room rate

Dinner hours and menus vary by restaurant and booking plan; check exactly which meal is included before you reserve.
For families with school-age children, a buffet can simplify dinner when tastes differ and going out would be a hassle. Room-only or breakfast-only plans offer more flexibility if you already have restaurants in mind or expect to return late.
Station access and the parking detail families should know
The walk from Beppu Station is about five minutes. The hotel also lists roughly 300 free spaces in a multilevel and surface car park. The multilevel structure has no elevator. If you are travelling with an older relative, a stroller or heavy bags, drop everyone and the luggage at the hotel entrance before parking. A small number of surface spaces, including accessible spaces, are available beside the hotel; if the lot is full, guests need to use nearby paid parking.
A step-free route from every room to the third-floor bath is not confirmed. If someone uses a wheelchair or walker, ask about the exact room, bathroom thresholds and route before booking.
Is Kamenoi Beppu a good family base?
It is a practical choice for groups that want to stay together near the station and are comfortable using a public bath. The Baby Room can reduce the amount of gear you bring, while the Four and six-bed layouts make room-sharing possible without relying on futons for everyone.
Choose somewhere else if a private in-room onsen is essential. Also compare one large room with two smaller rooms using the full total, including meals, bedding and cancellation rules; the lowest per-person headline price may not be the cheapest arrangement for your family.
