Overview

Aoni Onsen has four baths: Kenroku-no-Yu, the main-building indoor bath, Takimi-no-Yu and a mixed-gender outdoor bath. The inn describes the water as free-flowing, but it does not guarantee that all four baths are open to day visitors on a given day. Summer shuttle seats must be booked, and winter access requires a separate shuttle from Rainbow Lake.

Location & access

In the mountains near Kuroishi. The summer shuttle runs between Rainbow Lake and Aoni and requires advance reservation; regular buses from Kuroishi Station are timed mainly for overnight guests. In winter, private cars cannot continue up the mountain: park at Rainbow Lake and reserve the shuttle. A short day trip by public transport is difficult.
