The beach is part of the plan
Yuyu Land makes the most sense when Katazoegahama is already on your route. The bathhouse is inside the seaside park, so a swim, campsite stay or afternoon by the water can end with a hot bath without another cross-island drive. Its core facilities are a communal bath, an open-air bath, a sauna and a family bath. This is a practical local onsen, not a resort spa with a long menu of treatments.

What the spring figures can—and cannot—tell you
The 2024 spring analysis records a source temperature of 20.7°C and pH 7.0. It classifies the water as a weakly radioactive sodium-chloride cold mineral spring. The analysis lists the flow rate as unmeasured, and the public information does not give a fixed temperature for the bathing pools. Those source figures are useful context, but they do not tell you the temperature you will feel in the bath.
The indoor communal bath and open-air bath give you the basic onsen visit; the outdoor setting is the main reason to choose this one over a town sento. A family bath is also listed, but current booking terms and its fee are not clearly published. Call the facility before building a visit around private bathing. Yuyu Land’s number is 0820-78-2226.
The analysis sheet also records radon at 78.8 × 10⁻¹⁰ Ci/kg. That is a laboratory figure, not evidence for a specific health effect. It gives no measured flow rate, and neither it nor the source temperature tells you how hot the pools will be: the main published text does not specify their fixed bathing temperature or each pool’s water treatment. The spring was raised mechanically from a drilled source.
Pack a towel if you are coming from the beach
You can buy a bath towel for ¥100. Other small items and a complete “forgot your kit” set are not clearly itemized, so bringing your own face towel and toiletries is the easiest way to keep the visit simple. Swimmers and campers will usually have what they need already; visitors arriving by bus may want to pack a small bathing kit before leaving Obatake Station.
A closure worth checking before a long drive
Yuyu Land closed in June 2026 after an equipment problem during planned maintenance. The Suo-Oshima tourism association announced its reopening on July 6. That is the latest dated closure update used here; the old closure notice should not be mistaken for its current status. Because the bathhouse has had equipment trouble before, a same-day check is sensible if Yuyu Land is the main reason for crossing the island.
The park has roughly 200 parking spaces, and the drive from the Kuga interchange takes about an hour. On foot or by bus, the key constraint is the connection at Hirano: the local Shiraki route also serves as a school bus, and it does not run like an hourly resort shuttle. Check the operating days and the return trip before setting your bathing time. Tattoo rules are not clearly stated in the current facility information, so ask directly if this affects your choice.
For the day’s route, compare it with Ryuzaki Onsen Shio-kaze-no-Yu. Yuyu Land is the natural fit for Katazoegahama and the island’s east end; Ryuzaki is a better match for the Agenesho Bay side.
