Kusatsu Hotel Annex Watanoyu: Two Springs, a View Bath and an Adults-Only Stay

Watanoyu is a better choice for guests who will use the communal baths than for anyone seeking a private hot spring in the room. The shared baths bring together Wata-no-yu and Bandai-kō, two noticeably different Kusatsu sources. The inn has eight rooms, does not accept children below elementary-school age, and has no private bath or outdoor bath on site.

The west-wing bath is for the view, not the spring water

The west wing’s renovated Japanese-Western room is about 63 square metres, with two double beds, separate bath and toilet, and a window-side tub overlooking Sainokawara Park. The tub is not filled with hot-spring water. The room’s appeal is space and the view, plus a later checkout on eligible plans—not a private onsen.

The main-building rooms are simpler. All guests can use the shared baths with Wata-no-yu and Bandai-kō spring water, along with a small footbath on the third floor. If your main reason for upgrading is to bathe in the room, choose another property with an explicitly named natural-spring bath.

A compact stay between Yubatake and Sainokawara

The inn sits close to the entrance of Sainokawara Park, roughly halfway between the park’s large outdoor bath and Yubatake. Yubatake is around a five-minute walk; the bus terminal is about ten minutes away on foot. There is no bus-terminal pickup. The parking area is free but about 100 metres from the entrance, so pull up at the inn first to unload luggage before parking.

Dinner and breakfast are served in the dining room, and the inn also sells breakfast or room-only plans. Children below elementary-school age are not accepted, including children sharing a bed. If your party includes anyone near the age cutoff, check the exact booking terms before paying.

The useful question is not whether a room has a bathtub, but whether you want a peaceful, small property with two public spring sources or a private bath you can use in the room.
