If you arrive earlier, the inn says guests can wait at Shimoda Station Hotel and leave luggage there; confirm the current details when you book. Anyone arriving after the last suitable pickup should ask the property about a taxi or spend the first night in Shimoda instead.
If your train gets in early, choose one compact stop around central Shimoda before heading inland. The port, Perry Road and the town’s historic area are possible options, but there is no need to collect them all before check-in. Let the evening belong to the inn
After arrival, find out where dinner will be served and which baths your plan includes. A short soak before dinner leaves room to settle in; use the longer bathing window later if you feel like it. Room-bath features also differ by building and plan, so check the booking details rather than assuming every room has the same setup.

Day two: bathe, check out, then choose a direction
The main-building information lists checkout at 10:00. If your room plan includes a private bath, use the morning at your own pace; otherwise check the shared-bath schedule before setting an alarm around it. Ask where bags can be kept after checkout and confirm the return ride to Shimoda separately—the published pickup times cover the trip to the inn, not a return service.
Once back in Shimoda, add a coastal or town stop only if it fits your onward train. White Beach, Cape Tsumekizaki and the port are in different directions; choose one area rather than turning the rest of the day into a series of transfers. If a late checkout or luggage arrangement matters, ask the inn before you finalize the train.
Adjust the pace for your group
Couples can settle in, enjoy the garden or room, then choose one quieter bath after dinner; there is no need to shuttle between the coast and the hills for another photo stop. Families should check room capacity, meal times and the distance between their room and baths, especially if someone may want to rest instead of bathing. For older guests, pickup arrangements, luggage, night lighting and a place to sit after bathing matter more than adding another attraction. Anyone sensitive to heat may prefer the main soak earlier, with only a short dip after dinner.
